I prefer the 14.1" version.

Nice setup! I would prefer a slightly longer warranty, like the 3 year plans. That price is also on the slight high side, let me see if my discount access might give a lower price (school discount, would work for you as well).
-
Last question, is there any benefit to getting a fully loaded T60 widescreen? Microsoft will be able to update drivers for Vista to fully use turbo cache in the future as well as increase battery life so I really see no other reason for getting the T60 WS now vs this one.
Homer, I have been waiting for the 15.4" screen for a while now and it is finally released, I know about the Students and Alumni page and will purchase it from there. My school has on site Lenovo warranty service for free, I just wanted the accidental protection.
Any other recommendations, please LMK! -

I think a 1 accidental plan is good enough, unless you are more clumsy than average. In that case I think a 2 year accident plan is perfect.

What exactly do they do if I drop my Laptop lets say in a lake, do they give me a brand new one? That is one of my last questions, what they do for me if I accidentally break it i.e.(spill something, drop it)

Do fatwallet to get an extra 6% off and if you/they have an american express card be sure to use TailorMade for an extra 10%. Brings that price down quite a bit.
-
Yea my dad will be using is CC, is there any strings attached to the TailorMade deal, and where can I find the fatwallet one, what is required with that one?
Thanks! -

No strings attached except that the discount is in the form of a credit towards your AMEX bill in a month or two rather than a strictly cheaper computer.
For Fatwallet sign up here
http://www.fatwallet.com/join.php
and then use the link to the lenovo store from here
http://www.fatwallet.com/cash-back-coupons/Lenovo/
When you do the Fatwallet, make sure you configure, order, and purchase the laptop in the window that opens. If you don't they won't know you used their site and you won't get the rebate. -
Find out if your UNiv has a software deal with Microsoft. I can get Ultimate for $20 on a DVD, so Ive ordred my lenovo with "Basic"
-
I think this is too heavy-loaded for college, you would get by just fine with T7300, 1GB ram, no turbo cache, pass on Vista Ultimate and dock station - and save $1000. But if grandparents are paying - knock yourself out!
-
-
I want the dock for security reasons and not having to change network cables/usb cables every time I bring my Laptop back to dorm and I want something that will last for 4 years.
Its not like I know nothing about PCs or anything like just wanting the best and all, I have personally built 3 computers from scratch and know a great deal more than the average joe about electronics and the such. -

life isn't fair

Drop the processor to 2.0 or 2.2Ghz, and forget about Intel Turbo Cache.
-
I see your point about the processor, save over $200 on processor for 2.2Ghz, but once Microsoft releases a driver that the turbo cache can use, it will be super fast and efficient - besides its $50.
-
Looks good.
I pretty much agree with everyone above. If you insist that much on the minidock, go for it. Otherwise, its frivolous in my opinion.
It isn't worth the extra price for 200 mhz, so downgrading to a T7300 or T7500 isn't that bad. Save your grandparent's money.
Buy 1gb from Lenovo and upgrade it yourself to 2gb, especially since a new stick of RAM is on the order of $25-35.
Stick with Turbocache as the drivers are not yet mature. If no performance gain, it'd at least give you more battery life.
See if your school offers MSDN AA for all its students. At mine, its only for ECS.
And one final remark, if you intend on moving around a lot I'd opt for a smaller laptop, although I never carry my laptop to lecture myself. Good ole pen and paper does it for me. (I'm BME) -

2. wireless network
3. Wireless USB?
I don't know about this lasting 4 years......you will probably want a desktop as well sooner than that if you don't already have one. -
So technically, your joke would be better served if it was "Did you know that Lenovo is a little old grandpa?"
It still sucks. Nice try. -
Last questions guys, what does the accidental coverage provide for me.
-
just a joke man, dont get all testy again, you still have your order
Gonna get a new T61 tonight, review it!
