So I was looking at this notebook for quite a while now. And recently, Lenovo-US had a deal for the SLI system for only $1,199.
    59405667 - IdeaPad Y510p High-Performance 15.6" Multimedia Laptop from Lenovo | Lenovo (US)

When I was looking at the check out options, I found out that they currently have a special offer for the GPU ultrabay for only $99 (originally $249) So I thought I just can get the model that comes with the DVD drive as ultrabay instead (59405668) then purchase the extra GPU as an extra accessory, so I can save $200.

But I am aware that many are having problems with purchasing a non SLI version, then just upgrading for SLI afterwards. Like their GPU not being detected and such. But as I notice, people that are having this problem has the 750 built in, and have win 8.

    1. Do you think the 755 version, win 8.1 wont run to this issue anymore? Like have they fixed it already or what? And on the description of Y510P Removable Graphics GT755M5 it says that "IdeaPad Y 15’’Removable Graphics is proprietary designed for Y510p(GT755m configuration) system, which is GT755M gaming discrete graphics."

    2. Next is I am also aware that if you buy a non sli configuration, you wont get the 170w ac power adapter, and you have to buy it separately. Does this mean that if ever I get the SLI to work, the stock AC adapter may not deliver enough power when in SLI configuration/have some trouble with the SLI?

    Thanks!

There is no point getting the Y510p at this point in time, when the Maxwell 860M Clevo W350SS can be had within the same price range.

The advantages the Y510p would have over the W350SS would be a quieter, slightly thinner system with a better keyboard, but the Clevo would have better temps, better battery life, no micro stutter, lower power consumption and better gaming performance when gaming on the battery.

I'd just wait for the Y50 at this point if you need a Lenovo laptop.

    Thanks for replying!

Is there a huge gap between Maxwell (860) and Kepler (750/755)?

I just googled it, hate to say it, but I dont like the bulkiness or lets just say the looks. I am not only for beauty, but if the performance difference is minimal, I would love to get the thinner and more presentable look (although its actually based on personal taste)

And I actually dont mind issues while playing on battery, as I never play on battery. I always plug when I play.

About that y50, that 1in is really tempting
