    Hi everyone,

I bought a 14" T61 widescreen a couple months ago here in Canada, and I will be relocating to Hong Kong this fall. Since the power adapter plugs are different here in North America (the shape of the prongs, as well as the power requirements), do I need to buy a whole new power cord/brick, or is there some sort of adapter I can use?

    Thanks!
    Richmond

No need to buy a whole new power cord/brick, your TP brick is 110-220v, all you need is a simple adapter that changes the NA plug to the HK one. You can pick those up locally for like US$2-3.

So the North American power brick I already have will automatically convert the voltage/power for me? I'm nervous about frying my Thinkpad... ;)

Sorry for being a newb...I don't know much about this stuff

Yes. Look at the writings on your power brick, you will see it's written "110-220V", and HK is 220V standard. My old Toshiba Portege that I bought in Canada few years ago, even that came with a 110-220V brick. Actually, I haven't seen any notebook that didn't come with a 110-220V brick, notebooks are designed for travelers. Like I said, just look at the writings on the brick so you can be sure.
