As the title says, I'm thinking hard about going for a T400 for my next notebook purchase. Unfortunately this supplants my current ThinkPads(T60p and X61s) because I'm finding that neither model quite fulfills my mobile needs. After asking around, I'm going for a T400, as this gives me more power and mobility.

However, I have a few questions.

    1. I'm looking to purchase from the Outlet. I've heard mixed reviews about how well they do, and it sounds like the experiences are all over the place. Has anyone here ordered an Outlet machine, and what should I expect?

    2. I'm seeing three different GPU options: the integrated Intel X4500, the ATI HD3470, and the switchable graphics. However, I thought that all ATI T400's came with switching capabilities. Is this correct, or were there T400 models released with strictly the HD3400 onboard? I want switchable graphics, so this is a pretty big deal.

    3. I'm planning on running a multi(3 or 4) monitor setup with my new Thinkpad in a dock. Which dock should I choose to do this? I know about the USB-DVI converters and may end up using a couple of those. Also, just to clarify, but the docks for the T60/T61 are used for the T400/T500, right?

    4. I've heard some bad things about the Thinklight for this model. Is it as horrible as the reviews say, or is it not that big of a deal?

    5. I've got a specific configuration that I want, but will take a few things away if I can get a good enough deal. How hard would it be to upgrade to Bluetooth or Wireless-N if I have to do so after the fact? I don't mind going inside the machine a little bit to do so, but I don't particularly want to open up the display to add antennas or anything of that nature.

    6. If ordering from the Outlet is a bad idea, are there any good alternatives where I can get a good deal on a good T400? I've bought plenty of notebooks from Ebay, but specs can be rather unreliable.

Thanks in advice for any information!

Not bad, but it's a T400s... I need some GPU power and the T400s only comes equipped with the GMA X4500, unfortunately. :( Really good price on that machine, though.

All T400's with ATi graphics are switchable. The only T400's w/o switchable are strictly the intel x4500 models.
