Finally, I bought my "new" T60p. Time to stock up on accessories, and I have questions about the options. My machine:
Type: 2007
Category:T60p - ThinkWiki
Questions...
Standard batteries
I have a whole thread dedicated to this:

Additional (either in 2nd HDD caddy or replacement) disk drives
Will any 2" SATA 7200rpm drive work, or do I need to find special/compatible drives (for BIOS/boot/etc compatibility)?
I also plan to try out an Intel X25-m flash-SSD drive with this machine, too. (Boot OS from it, put all my data on another.) fwiw, I'm pretty familiar with Flash-storage limitations/constraints/workarounds, but any tips are very welcome.
Additional memory
3GB physical limit on T60's, correct? Is this 2GB in one slot, 1GB in another (assuming only 2 slots)? And will PC2-6400 or any other "later" memory flavor be backwards compatible? (PC2-5300 appears to be what's in it already.)
Ultrabay battery
Seems like Advanced Ultrabay Battery III - ThinkWiki is the way to go because it seems to support the T4x0 line as well (and I may be buying one of those in the near future). Apparently Advanced Ultrabay Battery - ThinkWiki does not. Any other options?
Power (AC and DC) Adapters
First: why would I want 65W vs 90W adapters (other than physical size)? For what things/apps/situations/scenarios would a 90W be required?
Second: Will my fleet of T4x/R52 power adapters (AC adapter P/N = 92P1020, FRU = 92P1021, 72W) work for my T60p? I'm having a hard time finding power-spec specifics.
External battery charger
Check out this one on ibm.com. For my R52/T41, I used a charger that can take 2 batteries plugged into it at once. Any idea if that will charge T60p batteries as well? (Said charger appears to be discontinued...)
2nd HDD caddy
Is this the only/right one?

any 2.5 inch SATA hdd with 9.5 mm thickness will work.
The compatibility of the 800 mhz ram in the T60/p depends on the make. Most will work, but some may not.
T410 laptop doesn't have the power connector for the ultrabay battery. So no go there, also the ultrabay battery gets used up and charged first, which leads to greater degradation. This will be an expensive option for you, if you constantly use the laptop with ultrabay battery in.
T60p will require a 90 w adapter, basically all Thinkpads with the discrete GPU (i.e. Nvidia or ATI GPU) will get the 90 w adapter due to the greater power requirements. Also, the 90 watt adapter charges the battery faster. A 65 watt adapter in a T60p will run very hot, which is something that i wouldn't recommend unless you want a AC adapter meltdown or electrical fire.
The T4x and R5x adapter are for IBM laptops, not for the Lenovo Thinkpads, they have different tips and operate at different voltage, so they are not intercompatible. So basically, starting from R60, Z60, X60, T60 all the adapter will have changed to the Lenovo version.
These external chargers for battery are not intercompatible. (Correction, the Lenovo Thinkpad external battery charger will work with your system).
Yes that is the correct Ultrabay caddy for the second SATA hdd. -
An usual lead_org, great feedback.
And for my reference, I'm also getting a DC power adapter:

this is the first time i have seen this device, Lenovo certainly doesn't make a device like this.
The closest thing to that is the slim 90 w adapter, which you can buy as a scratch and dent stock from the lenovo outlet.
Personally speaking i wouldn't go and purchase a no-name charger that has a totally different design to what is made by the manufacturer. You may save the 40 odd dollars here, but you wouldn't know how the device perform and whether it could damage the motherboard due to overcurrent/overvoltage.
I suggest you get an official charger from the outlet store for the sake of your laptop.
--------------------
I had a look at the external battery charger device that you linked, it is actually compatible with the Lenovo Thinkpads (so including the T60p). -
The cheap DC adapter is similar to what I've used in the past to charge (with an external battery charger) my T4x/R52 batteries. But agreed that the slim AC/DC adapter is a better/safer option (and another great tip, thanks!), just ordered one of those from Lenovo's outlet (although that ship date projection is August 13th...geesh...).
-
Edit: Nevermind--I was able to cancel the order for the cheap DC adapter, so it's a moot point. Again, thanks for the heads up.
(Original post:
Separately- any idea if there's a risk for "breaking" a battery when performing external battery charging with above, cheap, DC adapter in combo with a Lenovo Support & downloads - ThinkPad External Battery Charger - Overview ?) -
AC adapter (not DC adapter) question- are the "original" IBM/Lenovo AC adapters worth the extra bucks over the "replacement" ones? Looks like its about ~$8 vs ~$30 per adapter cheap vs genuine, respectively. And I plan to buy about 2-4 of them (in addition to the slim adapter I bought and the one coming with it).
(Note I canceled the cheap-DC-adapter order, so don't care about that anymore... ) -
Will my PATA-based, Amazon.com: 2ND HDD Adapter for Ultrabay Slim: Electronics that I used in my old T41 work in my (soon to be delivered) T60p?
This suggests it will, if it's the same part (it references T60 although not T60p support): Ultrabay Slim HDD Adapter - ThinkWiki ? Also, I read that the SATA-2nd-HDD adapter effectively uses a SATA-to-PATA bridge to speak PATA to the "end connection"...further suggesting the above will work.) -
If I recall correctly, T4x Ultrabay devices will work in the T60 without a problem... I remember using a T4x CDRW/DVD drive in my X60 Ultrabase a while ago, and I think I used it in my T60p a time or two. The only accessory that won't interchange is the Ultrabay battery; you'll have to get one for a T60. The drives themselves will fit, but the 'angled' bezel on the T4x drives won't sit entirely flush with the T60 system. It's not a mechanical defect or anything; the difference is purely cosmetic.
