I bet those who have non FireGL cards see more settings in their CCC panel.

I have a few settings that will unlock a bit of performance in your card and options in your CCC panel. Back up your registry before hand.

    To enable Temporal AA:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\
hit control F and look for "TemporalAAMultiplier" edit the binary you should see a number 30 when the editor open, change it to 32.

You should see TemporalAAMultiplier_DEF immediately under. Edit the value to 2.
You should see TemporalAAMultiplier_NA under TemporalAAMultiplier_DEF and change it to 2 as well. When you restart and open CCC you should see Under the AA Tab that you now have a check box for Temporal AA.

    To enable Cat AI.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\
hit control F and look for CatalystAI
under CatalystAI change the value from 30 to 31.
under CatalystAI_DEF change it to 1.
under CatalystAI_NA change it to 3

    To increase OpenGL performance.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\
hit control F and look for EnableTripleBuffering
change the value from 30 to 31.

I don't bench mark but this should give you better AA performance and CatAI should help smooth out games and give you better benches. It'd be nice if someone would run some benches for before and after. It should bring you closer to X1600 levels.

If someone gets me a T61 to play with and another laptop with an 8400 I bet I can squeeze a few FPS out of the 140m.

Sure someone get me a T61P to play with and I'll find out the best settings for performance.

Yup it'll work with the V5250.

I'm also compiling a tweak to turn Hypermemory on and off.

Through my testing all the X1xxx cards are designed (or at least the driver is)to run with Hypermemory on.

The game I tested with is Hitman Blood Money with HM off I get stutters once in a while. However it might be worth while for those with older cards like the X1300 or X300 turn it on.

O.K. I tried it, here are my simple results

    3dmark05 before any mods 3842

3dmark05 after these mods 3233 plus one bsod

I followed the instructions exactly and triple checked for errors, plus I checked the checkbox for temporal AA

It's possible CatAI causes the the lowering of the scores. The reg mod for CatAI sets the option to show up as well as defaults it to on. Turning it off or changing it to Advanced might fix it.

I guess I should also mention that I'm using the latest driver and BIOS from Lenovo so that using older versions might cause conflicts.
