Is anyone aware or familiar with the ThinkPad Yoga's performance with gaming, by any chance?
I'm awaiting an i7 4600U configuration, and am not sure how well this device performs with gaming.

For those of you with the TPY, does it do well with gaming?

The first required criteria of gaming notebook is it must have discrete GPU and unfortunately TPY doesn't have it, so the answer is it's not well for gaming. It can still do lightweight gaming like minesweeper or tetris though :p

I regularly played Mass Effect 3 on an X220 last year...I would think a close to 3 year newer laptop could do better.

The OP doesn't specify what kind of gaming he want. For heavy gaming, intel HD 4400 in TPY is absolutely not realiable for this kind of task. Even so for certain medium-heavy games, it's possible but with adjusted graphic settings (don't expect for high or ultra setting).

Expect the TPY to perform comparably with any other ultrabook using the latest 4th gen processors. It can handle older 3D games no problem, but the latest ones definitely will not be able to run, even on low settings. TPYoga is not a gaming machine, but an ultrabook for productivity and media consumption.

Ah, I see. Sorry about the lack of clarification everyone. I'm a 3D gamer, so based on that, I guess TPY will not do. I'm sure my side-scrolling MMORPGs would do great, but I shouldn't be expecting anything more than that I guess.

There's a world of difference between what you describe in this post and "minesweeper and tetris" ;)

I don't play 3D games on my thinkpad directly anymore in an effort to make sure it lasts a few more years, but if you have a PC or another system that is capable of running games, Steam In-Home streaming seems pretty awesome from my experience with the beta. Link up your laptop over 5ghz/gigabit as well as the host that plays the game and it runs great. Beta is still cpu bound, and I don't know how well action/fighting games work. I'll find out when Castlevania comes out in 2 weeks.

HD 4400 should be able to play games at low-med settings 720p.
