Okay, I didn't think I was interested in gaming, but I've gotten the bug to take flying lessons and I thought spending some time with MS Flight Simulator X would be good for practice. Would a discrete graphics card in a T61 or R61 be necessary/beneficial for that type of game?
Thanks,
Mark

Yes, definitely. The T61p's 570 FX is the best to get.

yeah,it would be enough.

I can confirm that. The 140M doesn't really have enough juice to play FSX at high settings though, and if you are a private pilot flying in VFR (visual flight rules), the higher the settings the better for your training. It gives you a clear horizon, high detail on landings, etc. T61p 15.4 is the way to go if you have the money. If money is an issue, go for the T61p 14 (128mb vs 256mb) and get your hands on a copy of FS 2004.

thanks for the help everyone. What is a t61p as opposed to a t61? I don't see a "p" designation anywhere on the lenovo website ordering page.

The "p" version is just the most powerful and expensive version of the T61. On the Lenovo site it's listed as "ThinkPad Mobile Workstation".
I was confused about that at first when I could not find a T61p on the site.
I heard "p" means performance, but who knows?
GPU needed for MS Flight Sim?
