As some of you may have already know, I'm getting the T61p with WUXGA and nVidia Quadro FX 570m(15.4", so its the 256MB one).

The thing is, since now that I've picked it over the X61t, I'm expecting to play some games with it. I've heard that switching the driver from the one provided by Lenovo to a gaming driver could enhance the gaming abilities of it. However, I've also heard that some people had some trouble after switching. So I just want a general idea of what it does, how much can it do, how it is done, and I'd love it if some people who had already done it would post their experiences with it.

    Hi,
I am using the 163.44 driver downloaded from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/.
They provide the custom nvidia.inf file needed to install non-Lenovo issued drivers.

I run Supreme Commander at 1920x1200 resolution on my Gateway 24" screen and it works great. Before it was sluggish zooming in and out.

This driver is also better when I connect an external display, either direct or via a docking station. No more incorrect resolutions or the Windows Vista showing the picture on the external screen but saying that I do not have an external screen connected.

    Definitely worthwhile.

LucM, what is your GPU and how did you do it? Because I went to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com and nVidia Quadro FX 570m isn't on their supported list, is that a problem?

Oh, and I've read some threads of people who did it and their score from 3dmark dropped significantly, does anybody know what's up?

Just installed the 163.44 on my T61p w/128 Quadro 570 with following results:

    Main Test Results
    3DMark Score 5739 3DMarks
    CPU Score 7972 CPUMarks

    Detailed Test Results

    Game Tests
    GT1 - Return To Proxycon 24.3 fps
    GT2 - Firefly Forest 18.4 fps
    GT3 - Canyon Flight 27.1 fps

    CPU Tests
    CPU Test 1 4.1 fps
    CPU Test 2 6.8 fps

That's the whole point of downloading and swapping the original inf file for the modified inf file. Then your graphics card will be supported.
