hey guys! Could you please tell me which gps receiver to buy for my laptop.
And what is the best mapping software? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I've been using street&trips from Microsoft and it seem great, but some people like/prefer to use mappoint for some reason. Not really experience with GPS but street&trips does give you a GPS that comes with the software runs decent.
Personally, I think it is better to get GPS one that connects to PCMIA or bluetooth rather than usb, just an easier way for portability. With that usb wires hanging around kind of bothers me sometime. -
or if u downloaded streets and trips, buy the holux 213 gps on ebay for 50 bucks, works great, i even get reception inside my house far away from windows, really weird! cause it runs by satellites but i guess its frequency waves like radio.

I use the MS Streets and Trips kit with my T60. Excellent reception in almost all conditions so far. On par with my Garmin 60cx reception wise.

thank you all guys for your quick replies.
But, what is the best cost effective bluetooth GPS receiver?
I heard that holux 213 is good, but I would like to connect it to my PDA phone as well. So I need something with bluetooth. -
I have a dell-branded Navteq receiver, model number BT-332 and it generally works awesome. I have no problem pairing it with any BT-enabled windows computer as well as my Axim PDA running WIndows Mobile.
I used it every day over the summer while I was commuting and it could get good signal while the receiver was sitting in a storage bin buried in the dashboard of my car.
It's battery powered and runs off the same power as the Dell PDA's, so at least for me, I can power it with a y-adapter cable at the same time as my PDA.
