Does anyone have a GN36 ultrabay card (GT650m) for sale or know where I can find one? The only places online I can find have it for $300 or more and are from China. Very hesitant to order a card for a 5 year old laptop for that much money and from China. Thank you!

PS - this is for a Y500 Lenovo laptop

I've got a GN35 I was planning to sell. It's unlocked and has been repasted with IC Diamond. You can have it for $100 + shipping.

Of course you'd need to have a y500/510p style bezel/mounting bracket to get it to fit properly. If you're interested let me know.

Thank you for helping me look. I've already seen those two links, one is from China for $300 and the other was orignally $300 and I talked the seller down to $250, but then he told me it didn't come with a power supply (even though the description said it did).

Also thanks for offering the gn35, however, I don't know where I would find a bezel for the Y500, and I'm not sure how hard it is to swap? I wouldn't be opposed to doing this, I re-seat the thermal paste on processors all the time, but I don't think I would be able to find a bezel for Y500.

    Any other resources?

    Thank you all

Well in your situation I would do the following to mod a GN35. First I'd buy this for the bezel: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2nd-HDD-SSD...253625?hash=item3391036fb9:g:TbsAAOSwGvhT40-q

I have the y400/410p version and it's a perfect fit, so I'd expect the y500/510p version to be the same. If you're very good, and have the right tools, you can cut out a vent on that bezel. That being said I never had a reason to remove the bezel from my HDD caddy so I have no idea how hard it maybe to remove. Anyways the bracket needed to mount the caddy/GN35 is the same one found on the DVD/Blu Ray drive that comes with the y500/510p. The y400/410p version of the bracket can be removed from the DVD/Blu Ray drive very easily, it's just held on by about 4 screws. I'd imagine the y500/510p variant isn't much more difficult to remove.

Of course you could just wait until you get luck and find a cheap GN36. I picked up my y410p back in October, and almost purchased a 755M5. Of course that situation was a bit different, in that I had the Gn35 to swap parts from and the 755M4 was never sold in the US (some random guy on eBay just happened to be selling one). It does show that you can get quite lucky though, as I'm one of the few people in the west with a 755m4. I don't think anyone else on this site ever had one.
