I searched for the GMA 960 but nothing conclusive came up; is it the same as the 965 X3100 platform?
-
Yes, that laptop has the x3100.
-
Don't worry; that is the X3100. The sepcs from Lenovo are showing it as GMA960 for some reason but if you look at Intel's website-the mobile chipsets specifically:
http://www.intel.com/products/laptop/chipsets/index.htm?iid=chips_body+lap
You will see that there is no such thing as a GMA 960. -
Awesome, that's why I was confused; Intel didn't list a 960.
Thanks for your help! -
Mine says 960 too. Why would Lenovo do this?
-
Actually this is correct, and your order has the Santa Rosa chipset. Actually all Lenovo T61's use the Santa Rosa platform, the previous generation T60 used the 1 generation older chips. You need to understand Intel's mobile/laptop chipset platforms and naming conventions.
First the X3100 is Intel's Integrated GPU (integrated graphics platform) which is a component of the base GM/PM 965 chipset platform which is the integrated silicon logic board (motherboard) that ties all the components of the Intel mobile platform together. The latest platform code-named Santa Rosa with the PR/Marketing names goes by Centrino Duo/Pro (which in itself is a subset of a Intel Santa Rosa CPU (the odd numbered series in the T7x designation; e.g. T7300), Mobile Base Chipset, and the WLAN Chipset amongst other things...).
In simple terms, yes your laptop has the latest Intel mobile platform/chipset.
Intel's latest mobile platform and the architecture is simplified in this wikipedia article for the masses:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrino -
This doesn't explain at all why it would say 960 as the GPU. -
its lenovo, thats why the spec sheet is screwed up
-
-
The question is not the x3100 portion, it's why lenovo has the chipset listed as 960 when it is supposed to be listed as 965. I'm thinking typo.
-
-
Gotta be a typo
GMA X1300 is the GPU
GM965 is the chipset -
Out of curiosity, does anyone have it say something else if they have the integrated?
-
So does the T61 have the GM965 or the PM965 chipset?
-
-
Whoops, I didn't update here; it is the GM965 with the X3100; must have been a typo on Lenovo's part.
-
I wonder if GMA960 is a degraded version of GMA965, just like GMA940 is a degraded version of GMA945.
The GPU of GMA960 is 400MHz while the GPU of GMA965 is 500MHz???
GMA960 Chipset = Santa Rosa w/ X3100?
