Hi, I just bought Lenovo G570 15.6 inch Notebook (Core i5-2410M, RAM 6GB, HDD 750GB, Blu-ray BT) and being sceptical about few things:

    - the player and the fan make a lot of noise when playing a DVD - is that normal??
    - I don't know even how to describe the second one: when watching vidoes online, ocassionally there is a weird interference in sound and image. It's as if there is a power voltage in a second that slightly interferes with the sound and image and streams across the video. Is that down to the notebook or soemthing else??

Most DVD players create a lot of noise when spinning the disk. There might be some silent ones out there, but in my experience, noise is the norm.

Can't answer your other issue. I have no idea.

I mean optical drives aren't meant to be...discreet. The fan noise could be indicative of something overheating. What are your idle/load/ambient room temperatures?

The second part could be your AC adapter.

not really sure about the temperature... i think it was more the spinning noise that i was worried about. i guess i expected too much, so that's reassuring...

good point about the AC adpater. i should check i was already thinking a got a faulty notebook...

What kind of noise are they making? My y460's DVD player makes a loud humming noise when installing programs/etc. As for the fan; It may just be a loud fan. I would check your CPU temps if you aren't already: CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

I'm not sure if I follow you on your second problem. Is it freezing for a split second?

The player makes very loud humming noise as it spins while the DVD plays. It calms down when the spining slows down. It sounded too loud as compared to other players I have had, so I was really worried. The fan noise kind of goes along with it.

It doesn't freeze. This interference sort of streams into the video for a second as it's playing affecting its sound and distorting the image a little bit. It's similar to sound and image interference that might occur with TV broadcast when there is a bad reception. At first I thought it was to do with this particular video or internet connection, but it happened with other videos that I was watching at other times as well.
