    Hey guys

Hoping someone can help me here. My unit bought 2 identical G530 systems last year and our IT guys rolled them back from Vista to XP Pro for us. Both worked fine out of the box.

One has since decided to stop running in native 1280x800 and only operates in 1024x768 (I've seen a few other posters with this unresolved issue by doing a search). I've tried getting new drivers from Lenovo for the gm45 chipset as well as direct from Intel with no luck - both switch res to 1280x800 but then the colours are screwed (it looks like 256 colour even though it says 32 bit). Everything else works fine, though, including the 2nd display we have attached for extended desktop.

However if I uninstall the chipset through Device Manager and use native Windows drivers it runs happily in 1280x800 (it asks for the drivers all the time, of course, as New Hardware Detected), but then we can't get the machine to detect the 2nd display. The downside is the issue happened while the owner was on a course in the UK for 3 months so I can't use the system restore to roll it back since the restore dates only go back so far.

Anyone got any ideas? The other identical machine is running 100% with no problems.

    thanks
