Ok i am going to return my hp dv2500t because of the cheap parts which the mouse clicker broke less than a week of having it, I am looking in future line of having a laptop for 2-3 years and i heard before purchasing the 2500t that the t61 is plain but really durable. I am just going to browse do e-mail and college stuff, NO Gamer and I will settle for the x3100 because it's fine for me. I was looking at the t61 since it's so popular and a lot of people seem to talk about it, I just have a few Q that needs to be answered.

Do i need the turbo memory(will it be useful for me)?

How big of a diff is the wxga and wxga+ is it worth the extra $$?

-CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim [add $10.00]
    -DVD-ROM 8x Max, Ultrabay Slim
-DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim [add $60.00]

and out of those 3 the (add $60.00) is the only one that has a dvd burner right??

Any other thoughts and info i could use since i am new with this lenovo??
After doign 3 months of research on the hpdv2500t not happy!!

The Robson cache stores the most used files thereby decreasing the use of the hard drive which is slower and uses more power than a flash drive. Theoretically, it would speed things up a bit and have better battery life. I haven't used a notebook with it yet so it's kind of hard to have an opinion. I'm getting the x61 for review this week, but I don't know if it has the Intel Turbo Memory. If it does I'll be in a better position to say something about it.

Yes, the last one is the DVD burner.

I would certainly say that it is better to get the Turbo Memory at the time of purchase than purchasing a 1GB external stick later (if compatible later on). Obviously you won't need WWAN, so better to have it. But I don't believe this will affect your use all that much.

Unless you have an external monitor you like to use, I would say WXGA+ is beneficial as it give you more space to manage icons as well as viewing space at higher resolution.

Yes, add the last option is for the burner.

Durability wise, I have always enjoyed PowerBooks (MacBook Pro now) and from what I have seen, the ThinkPads have been very well built.

I hated the feel of the dv series mouse clicker. It was a major drawback in terms of it's design. Plus, the options such as a faster hardrive, higher res screen, and turbo memory weren't available on it.

The turbo memory won't add much juice to your computer right now. However, in the future once microsoft figures out how to best optimize the performance of the turbo memory, It'll be much more useful. For $50 I don't think it's a bad feature to add.

The higher resolution is based on personal preference I guess. Most people do like the added space it gives you, but some complain that they don't like the print being so small. It would be best for you to check it out for yourself.

Don't forget to use the student discount and fatwallent rebate if you decide on the lenovo. Also, there have been delays in getting these computers out. You may get it in two weeks, a month, or 2 months. I'm sure you could wait though as most colleges don't start til august.

thanks again guys... I might wait till the 4th of july discount. since the turbo memor is only 50 bucks but the 1gb upgrade is 60 bucks so that's 110 added together so u can have both.

If you plan on getting vista then I would recommend getting at least 2 gigs of ram. If you want to be cost efficient you can always get 1 gig ram on 1 dimm and buy 1 gig of ram yourself. Don't confuse the turbo memory and the RAM. They are 2 totally different things.
