After a month of mind numbing research, I have decided to get the X60. I still need a couple questions answered before I dump $2000 on this fine notebook. The one I am going with is listed as the X60 Ultraportable w/ Bluetooth on the Lenovo website.

    1. The second choice for the cpu is listed as a core duo T7200. The T7200 is a core2duo. I am assuming this is a mistake, and they meant to put core2duo. I am just trying to make sure that it is indeed a core2duo before I buy.
    2. I read that the T60 and NOT the X60 comes with the roll cage. This confusses me. The X60 is the ultraportable one. Would it not make sense for it to have the roll cage? Also, sense the X60 doesn't have the roll cage is it less durable than the T60?

    Thanks for any help.

From what I read, the T60 has whats called a roll cage. Its what protects it from accidental drops, if that should happen.

From lenovo's main thinkpad page, it says the x60 doesn't have the rollcage, which I'm surprised about also. Maybe it's too small and doesn't have enough room for the frame? Or maybe it's compact enough that they didn't think it was needed? I don't know. I don't think anyone can say if it will be less durable than the t60 because the rollcage is something new, and no one has a t60 more than a year old, and certainly no x60 more than a few months old. However, the x-series has probably never had the rollcage; have you heard people say the x-series is less durable than the t-series? I don't think that I have.

And I would go by the T7200. Typos are not all that uncommon on the IBM/Lenovo site. You could always call to make sure.

Thanks for the input, and no, I haven't heard anybody say that. I am just very anal when it comes to my computers and related gear, especially when it comes to buying. One of the top factors I am looking for is durability, but I also want the 12.1 size. I guess I am just really looking for a little more arm twisting before I order the X60, which I think I will do Wednesday.

The X60 has better build quality than the T60, notwithstanding the roll cage.
I've worked with many of each at ibm.
If you get an X, just be sure you wont hate the 12" screen.

The machine in that second video looks and sounds as if those 'jet packs' are real. That would be something.
