    Just got my X200s:

    Core 2 Duo SL9400 1.86ghz
    12.1" WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Backlit screen
    4gb RAM (2gbx2)
    Bluetooth
    Fingerprint scanner
    5-in-1 card reader with modem
    Intel 5100 wireless
Hitachi 160GB Hard Drive (7200 rpm)
    9-Cell Battery

Final actual weight on a digital scale: 3.30 lbs
Lenovo spec sheet says: 3.05 lbs

Don't get me wrong, I really love this machine after playing with it. But I was slightly disappointed that it is slightly (0.25 lbs) heavier than stated.

I'm sharing this just in case anyone else searches this forum and is very nit picky about weight (like I am).

I will update this thread with the final weight of the machine once I install a X25-M G2 80gb drive and a 6-cell battery. My guess is that the weight should come down to ~2.9 lbs.

    Lenovo specs sheet:

    4-cell: from 2.43 lb (1.1kg); 6-cell: from 2.71 lb (1.23kg); 9-cell: from 3.05 lb (1.38kg)

It's the "from" that gets ya.

Maybe without some options such as the bluetooth module, only one dimm, etc it would be 3.05lbs with the 9-cell battery.

    Yeah, I agree.
1-dimm, no BT, no fingerprint reader, 3-in-1 card reader w/o modem would've gotten this thing down to 3.05lbs.

Also, some parts which Lenovo has not much control over like the hard drive can vary in weight quite a bit. You'd be surprised.

Yes I was somewhat disappointed when I plugged the battery in and found that the system was rather heavy.

Regardless without the battery it's unbelievably light, perhaps step down to a 6 cell if weight is really that important.

You really going to care about 4 ounces? lol

My T61p with 9 cell is almost double that. I don't want to hear no complaining :)

That's right around what my X301 weighs, though it has a larger screen, optical drive, and a 6-cell battery.

    Yeah, trade offs.
X200s has a smaller footprint, longer battery life and heck of a lot cheaper.

I would keep my x200 but the small footprint is kind of limiting to me sometimes. Just got the X301 so we shall see how that goes!
