Hi all,
I just wanted to pass this on as an update. I just got my T61p w/ Penryn today. After creating an image and the appropriate recovery CDs, I slapped in my Vista CD.
It only picked up the main partition, not the hidden one. I decided to investigate and booted up into Partition Magic. It was giving a partition table error. Couldn't see anything.
I then fired up my partition table editor and cleared out all the entries. Back into PM I went, and I saw the full size! Vista installer now sees the full HD capacity.
So if I lost you with all of the above, Lenovo/IBM has gotten better at hiding their hidden partition.

How long did it take you to get the T61p? I just ordered it today, does it actually take 2 weeks?
Also, since I have Windows Vista Ultimate won't the partition just be deleted if I reformat the hd. -
I had ordered mine on 1/30/08. IBM's estimated ship date was 2/25/08. I got it today. I tried that on mine but it left the hidden recovery partition alone.

they havnt gotten better at hiding them. you just need a partition program that doesnt sucks.

this was the first thing i tried which worked perfectly.
that is always a good disc to have handy -
The vista Boot DVD has DiskPart for doing that.

Meh... so I made a pointless post I've done numerous installs before with XP which has always taken care of that. I just thought Vista would've done the same.
For those attempting clean install...
