All in all Im VERY impressed! Zero adjustment from the t400 and perfect size to boot. The only thing Im a little upset about is no camera and there is a fingerprint reader. But then again I rarely if ever skype (maybe once or twice a year) and Im hoping I can shut off the finger print reader permanently.

Would you recommend someone move from a 14" to 12" for a main, and possibly only PC? I'm not sure if the switch would be too big.

lol I saw my name in the thread title and I was like huh?
I mean overall I feel the M11x is way bulkier than a normal ultra-portable. I mean I had an impression that ThinkPads were more thinner and lower profile than your average notebook yet were more durable than thicker notebooks. -
Depends on what youre looking for. I needed a smaller laptop with similar battery life and also to consolidate from 3 to 2. The t400 is now a desktop/server.
Yeah I had to address this one to you. The m11x is smaller then the x200sin pretty much all aspects. The m11x is only slightly larger in depth if you dont have the 9 cell.
But comparing the 3 Im going to have to say that the x200s is probably going to be my favorite. Its originally what I was looking for when I was getting my first thinkpad. Ill be putting linux on it tonight and that will be the final say on which is my favorite. -

Hrmm well I guess. But I still would never buy an M11x...glossy screen. That and being 11.6" and being over 4 pounds...kinda defeats the purpose of a portable gaming rig? And it can't even play serious games. I guess for 550 it is a better deal, but at 1000 when it first launched I completely ignored the M11x. I mean with 11.6" screen you aren't getting any real work done so it's a secondary laptop lol. Meh that's just my take, you may love your M11x.
-
Now I love my x200s. The led screen is as good or better then the m11x and isn't glossy and has a much better resolution. Even with the 9 cell my x200s is super think and light and just what I was looking for. Couldn't be happier until I get linux on it.

Well I'm glad you like your x200s. I've been looking around for another 11-12" ThinkPad, kinda would like to have a tablet.
I thought you were giving your M11x away to a family member? Do you really not like it at all? -
I gave the m11x to my mom since I couldnt use it with linux the way I wanted. I loved it and would still be using it to this day if the nvidia could be turned off in bios. But alas it isnt and I gave it to my mom. Great laptop, just not what I need. The x200s on the other hand is exactly what I need and want.

That alienware is ugly and disguisting compared to your Thinkpad!
-
The battery on the T400 is butt ugly.
-
Do you always look at Thinkpad from the derrière perspective?

I used to have the T400 w/six-cell..never was fond of the protruding battery. I now have an X200 w/six cell and love love love the flush posterior. The rear bottom is slightly raised w/six-cell but that is welcome over the protruding rear. I do have a nine-cell for my X200 also but I rarely use it....think I used it like twice on a road trip. The nine-cell does come in handy for sure!
-
@turqoisegirl08, did you upgrade your laptop to the X200? nice. So how much did you get it for?
-
To each their own. I love the 9 cell and what its done for my computing. Both my t400 and x200s have one and I wouldn't have it any other way. If the ultrabase can use an ultrabay battery and give me a bit more time away from the charger id keep the dock on at all times.

I traded my T400 for this X200 and it's been great! I am a student so smaller size is a definite plus!
Only thing I don't like is how much docking stations cost for it!
-
get a second hand one from ebay. It is definitely worth it, if you are using the system as a desktop replacement with an external LCD connected.
-
Docking stations are always worth it. A must have in my book.
-
You can get pretty good deals on them via eBay. I lucked out when I ordered mine for $100; the seller included a regular power brick as well as a car charger; the 'car charger' turned out to be the ultra-thin Lenovo power adapter that sells new for around $100.

Ditto. My t400 dock was 90 with ac adapter.
-
mini dock all came with an extra 90 watt adapters, they are standard parts. In home i only use 90 watt adapters with the dock, regardless of the laptop i use.
For Tsunade_Hime :) and my x200s.
