Font is huge in firefox and some other things after installing W7 T500

So i'm using the Windows 7 trial (really mentormedia... no updates... i got charged 2 weeks ago and i placed the order in september...) to prepare for my full version.

Nvm about font, it was displaying at 125% originally for some reason.

Some info, I decided not to install any new drivers/bios/etc other than what it was shipped with (ordered when i was eligible for free w7 upgrade). Didn't want to spend time on it until I got Windows 7.

I'm pretty lost with installing W7 on the T500. Ok so I installed it using the custom clean install when i booted up. Chose the main partition (there were 2 others, I forgot one and it seems to have disappeared, and the other is the recovery partition, which i'll get rid of). Everything goes fine, boots up, blah blah. First thing I notice, at least I think so, is that everything seemed bigger, and I mentioned examples before.

Some other things:
- Some old files were still kept in the (C drive for some reason? They were outside of the windows.old folder. I thought it was supposed to be gone with a clean install?
- What should I install with lenovo system update?
-Can't think of anything else atm.

 

if you didn't format the harddisk before you installed windows then you would have a copy of the old stuff.

you said that you "decided not to install any new drivers/bios/etc other than what it was shipped with". well only very generic drivers are "shipped" with windows, so you would definitely need to install the drivers and utilities an what not. just use system update and it'll install everything for you.

it sounds to me you're using 1024x768 or whatever the default resolution is.

What I meant was what my my T500 was original shipped with, therefore my BIOS wasn't updated, etc. I did get it, and i'm not sure what to install. I installed new BIOS, power manager, and a few others, but not sure what else i should under optional and recommended options.

nvm about the resolution, for some reason things were made to look 125% rather than 100%.

 

format is done when, during the installation of windows, you choose which harddisk or which partition to install windows to.

basically i would suggest just installing everything in systems update, since it's automatic and don't need you to do anything anyway

 

I did format then? It still made an windows.old and left some old files in my c: drive

and should i update everythin? from system update? I'm sure some of it is unnecessary and bloat, no?

 

no you didn't format - if you did you won't have the old files left in c:. you need to specifically choose "format" to format

well, apart from access help, everything else ranges from "kinda useful" to "very useful" imho. so i have everything installed (apart from access help, obviously)
