+I accidentally set my external monitor to a resolution it does not support.
+And whenever the external monitor is plugged in, all output goes to the external and not the laptop = no visual.
+But if i try to change the RES with it being not connected, the computer tries to be smart by applying only this setting to when not hooked into an external.

    So....these $hitty Fn shorcuts dont work: Fn+F7.

I can't find the clone setting on the ATI control center, where is it?

Have you tried hooking the external, right clicking your desktop and going into the CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and set the settings there?

Have you tried FN+F7 when hooked?

Is the "Display Options" in the CCC under manual detection or under automatic?
Go to the display manager in the CCC and change resolution there. If that doesnt work, try going via windows included software.

Whenever hooked, both displays die because..
    a) i remember applying that whenever there is an external, to cut off the laptop
    b) the external does not support the "memorized" RES.

But it's ok i fixed it:

Goto CCC (obviously with no external hooked), and set HOTKEYS.

I used Alt+F7 (since the ty FN F7 does crap) to toggle between display modes.

Thank you for your reply Serg.

    Is it working now?
Good to hear that your laptop is ok.

From time to time, remember to check the config so that this does not happen again.

    Glad to help you!
