i recently installed xp on a new harddrive for my t61p.

after installing drivers and what not, i found that Fn F5 won't let me change the state of the wlan adapter, but it does let me change the bluetooth radio.

    what did i miss?

You need to install access connections. If windows is managing the wireless connections, the fn+f5 utility will not work for WLAN. I think the physical switch for all radios still will because it is hardware, but Access Connections is required for software control.

i didn't have access connections on my previous installation, but i was able to control both the wlan and bluetooth adapter through Fn F5.

i installed access connections just to try my luck, but it didn't change anything.

    anyone else have any clue?

You don't need Access Connections. In my previous XP install, it works without Access Connections.

I'm having a similar problem, actually. When I toggle the wireless on switch at the front of the laptop, the bluetooth light comes on instead.
