    Hi,

I've got a brand new Lenovo x61s with a flickering problem. When I set the brightness to minimum (or half of the maximum), I see "flickering" on the screen. It goes away when the brightness et to max. It's a brand new laptop, and I've never seen such things on my other laptops/monitors. Actually it's not even flickering but similar to old CRT monitors who have low refresh rate (<85MHz). I can't really see it, I just feel it. I'm having a strong eyepain after working like 5-10 minutes. I've already had the inverter replaced, but it didn't help.
Please see the videos I took with my camers:

    1. Lenovo X61s video:

    2. Other laptop

Note that there's no flickering on the other laptop (3rd video). Please let me know wheteher it's possible to fix that, otherwise I'll burn my eyes quite soon.

    Thanks.

you should get the laptop replaced, apparently it is a driver problem of some sort, but i think it has more to do with hardware problem.

Can't it be fixed? I've had the inverter replaced, probably replace something else?

Thanks a lot, but are you sure this is my problem? My screen doesn't shut off.

Also, please let me know whether I can "push" the refresh rate to 60Hz by using probably 3rd party video drivers? I would really like to increate the refresh rate.

this is the closest thing that comes to your problem, for this problem it is apparent a software fault. But my feeling for your system is that it is a hardware level fault, hence my previous comment. The link was included for you to have a look, and try some of the software fixes and in no way suggest that this is your problem.

It is the first time i have seen this problem, and i have been around the forum for a while.

The refresh rate on the LCD is 50 hz if i remember correctly, there is no way of really pushing for more in a LCD. Unlike CRT, refresh rate is really not a good indicator of things, it is more important to look at the pixel response time, as not everything in LCD are redrawed like CRT is with the electron gun.
