I'm really considering getting an IPS screen, and maybe even the ultra-high resolution one that's 1600 something horizontally. I just want to make sure that it's easy to increase the size of font an icons easily and that they look good outside of the Windows preset mode, because my eyes can't take the tiny ass text on high res screens.

You should be fine with UXGA, just so you never surf the Web. Ever.

If you can get a look at one it might not be a bad idea.

Opera though does have a nice 'zoom' feature that doesn't just zoom text but everything (in IE and firefox many sites gets destroyed by increasing text size).

How much bigger is the 1400 pixel resolution screen?

I was worried too but it is not bad. The text is very clear so it is easy to read. On occassion, I do a quick zoom (fn+space). This is very handy. Text is not quite as crisp but zooms in nicely.

There are some things to do to help. Increase dpi, increase text size default in browser (helps with some site but not all). I also really like clear text turned on.

I find I leave the screen at native resolution about 90% of the time and zoom in about 10% (usually for websites). However, the other 90% of the time, I am very thankful of the extra real estate.
