hello all, first thanks for making me buy this amazing laptop. Feels sturdir than any laptop (except my ooold T40) that i had. Also, Looks kinda cute after you stare at it long time. Who could think that a black brick could be so lovely lol.

Well, I'm writing on my old Lenovo 3000 N100 because the T400 is new and I don't know what steps should i make with it, obviously after turn it on.
Should I make a clean install? What about the battery? Calibrate it perhaps? etc.

i appreciate ur help because i want this laptop to live almost forever!

    thanx yo!

What I'd do is, charge it fully. Maybe like 1-2 hrs

Do a clean install. and start admiring the baby :)

You should check out vLite and do a streamlined install of Vista.

Throw caution to the wind, download every known suspicious software program, and see how well that bad boy can handle it. Be prepared to do numerous full system restore operations.

Before you do anything else, make a set of recovery disks.

    Ok! this are the steps:

    1) batterystuffs
    2) reinstall vista
    3) enjoy

One more question...actually 2. Can I charge my US bought laptop (110v) electricity) in my country (220v) without a problem? Usually, everything i buy in US i have to connect it to a adapter that controls the voltage difference.

and the other question is...what games do you suggest me to buy to fully use in this laptop?

thanks all! when I finish to check all about this laptop I'll make a T400 wallpaper for all!

Even before that use a 3rd party program like Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost to create a full image of the drive. This way you can guard against a problem when making your recovery media.

Backup to a USB external drive -- takes like 16 or 17GB, nothing big.

All joking aside, if you dont properly match voltages for ANY elecrical equipment that you use, both you and your equipment are in for a big shock!! When it comes to an item as expensive as a T400 I would continue with the "Just stare at it routine(as you mentioned you were doing before) "if you are not sure about voltage compatability.
