Wow...so far its been great. The first boot up of Vista was rather slow, actually it was more of a crawl but as more boot ups were made it has gotten faster. Iam still planning on doing a clean install as soon as my anytime upgrade cd comes in. The speed on this thing is pretty insane and definitely impressed by the build. The keyboard and touchpad buttons are very good, its almost like a glove it feel perfect to the touch. As for the heat, I feel practically none on the laptop so far, I feel heat no where on the laptop. The air vent blows cool air that is almost colder than my room. LOL.
Anyways besides from one stuck pixel that I am having trouble getting rid of, this Thinkpad has been money well spent.
So anyone worried about this product should have no questions, definitely a notebook worth the price in terms of quality and performance.
Looks are still the "business black" but hey I love it. It actually might deter people from stealing it.

Sounds good. Nice computer. You did raise the sum of all fears. The stuck pixel. I have never purchased any notebook with pixel problems but your comments scare me.
Black casing wont deter anyone. Most thugs, common criminals, and hooldlums know Thinkpads cost a lot and it anything it wont be a repellant. -

Also are you finding the Turbo Memory to be worth it?
-
Well I am not sure yet about the Turbo Memory. I would guess it is good but I really dont know how to test it. It does get faster after every use as it does seem to boot up faster now. I guess thats the function of the Turbo Memory?
Oh and I am not sure about every common thief knows about a Thinkpad. Comparing a Flashy Alienware and Thinkpad? One might think the Thinkpad is an old p.o.s computer. So I would think it might deter somebody at least that don't really know about computers...lol. W/e i love the laptop. Heh. And the stuck pixel only appears behind dark backgrounds, anything bright like normal browsing and office work the stuck pixel doesnt even appear. But I have searched around and there is some ways to fix it. -
Any thief with a speciality in computers is going to be intelligent enough to differentiate between the different brands and models to go for the most expensive Laptop possible. (The intelligent ones that attempt to make a career out of it anyways)
As for the stuck pixel try using Google and you'll find a few programs that may work. Baldwin LCD screens often have a few stuck/dead pixels but they are so small you normally don't even notice unless its a large amount. (In which case the LCD will be replaced) -
Thefts & ThinkPads...it's totally irrelevant.
-
Its a great laptop you will enjoy it. -
Yeah I am loving it so far. And as far as theft...I'm definitely not worried at all.

Awesome, I felt the same way when I got mine about a month or 2 ago. I did not have any of the problems other users were having. I didn't have any stuck pixels either (lucky for me), so I was pretty excited about that.
In all, I totally agree with what you have said. I am very pleased with my machine, and I even kind of like the looks, but then again, I was coming from a Dell Insprion 6000. -
Ataranea: Did you order from the outlet? Wouldn't mind knowing since we dont get many buyer accounts from ppl who bought through the outlet store.
And grats on the new machine
