I know most are aware of the normal T400 but here's a few brief remarks. I just received a new T400 with 2.26 Ghz CPU and 250 GB HDD and Windows 7 Pro installed, 3GB RAM. It has the 1280 x 800 LED screen. Compared to my T61 the screen is brighter and looks nice. I do however think I could have done with the 1440 x 900 resolution as all appears a little too large. I wouold not say first up that Windows 7 is faster than XP. I think not, programs seems to take a few seconds to start up, and that feels too long to me. Movie playback is fine but a bit grainy in the darker colours, not that you can really notice it unless you are looking for it. Audio could be louder but it's more than adequate to watch movies in a hotel room and for Skype it's also all OK. The webcam seems dark at first but is actually quite OK once you fiddle with the settings. Build of the machine is really good, I got one with the newer keyboards as there is no flex at all really. What I always find a bit confusing is why Lenovo cannot centre a screen (as in same size bezzle left and right). Again it does not really bother me. The weight is too much to travel with. This machine is for a co-worker and to be used in the office and meetings, but no airplane travel. Looks I will be needing something a lot lighter to travel with ! The T400 runs quiet and cool just like the T61 I already have. A note for those business users of Skype ... only version 4.0 and above runs on Windows 7. The layout is a bit of a pain in the proverbial ... but one will need to get used to it.
