I searched the forum for an answer, but nothing good came up. So, I will ask you guys: how can I activate the fingerprint log-on to Windows?

I can manage to get it to show up every time I start the computer, but right next to the "Fingerprint Log-on" I have the "Password Log-on" and the "User Log-on".

How can I make the last two disappear and leave just the "Fingerprint Log-on"?

I just want to swipe the finger before desktop shows, every time I start Vista.

    Anyone?

To the best of my knowledge, you can't make the other two options go away.

But I am able to simply swipe my fingerprint and log on without having to click anything. Been able to do this ever since I installed it, about a month ago.

I can do that too, but I don't have a password on my Admin account and anyone can by-pass the fingerprint log-on because of that. They just need to click on the normal log-on picture and that's it.

You can always add a password to the account. I have one on my account for extra protection, but for the most part I just swipe-and-go to log in.

When I did a clean install I had the 3 also. Just clicked on the fingerprint reader ( had used the advanced section of FingerPrint software app to custom install my login ) and now only show the print reader when logging on.

I Can click it if needed to give the option to manually log in if I wanted to.

    I figured it out:

Go in Fingerprint Software Control Center/Settings/Logon. Select Fingerprint Logon, un-check "Allow to bypass logon using Windows password" and "Allow user selfenroll in logon" if you don't use the user account.
After that click on Details. There you will see 2 or 3 rows:

    1. Upek Fingerprint Provider - all should be ON
    2. Windows Password Logon
    3. Microsoft Smartcard Provider

Double click on nr. 2. Right after the title in the upper field you will see something like {xxxxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx}, where x is numbers and letters. Copy that to clipboard using a text program, because you can't copy it directly, you have to enter it manually. Be sure to copy it just the way it is. Then go to Start/Run and type Regedit. After you enter the Regedit program press Ctrl+F and Paste the {xxxx...} thing. It will find that {xxxx...}. When it does, just delete it. Hit F3. It will find another one. Delete that too. Keep the F3 operation until it finds no more {xxxx...}.

    Restart and there you go.

I was a little afraid to try that and I made a back-up of the registry just in case. I found out it works ok and I didn't need the back-up. Now I only have the "Swipe Your Finger" option every time I start Windows.

    Get back with news.

On Security tab select Custom Mode or whatever you wish.

That's what I did and it works. It's not that hard anyway. It looks bad on paper/forum.
