After 9 day of wait, I finally got my new toy - T400 (2767CT0)
This version of T400, for people that might not know, it's customized uniquely.
The general specs are shown on the attachment.
Note: 1) It did not come with Vista pre-loaded, but with DOS instead (did not want to pay extra $100+ for Vista - I got plenty OEM keys that lenovo is using to activate pre-configured laptops )
2) It came with a 512MB DDR3# OEM Samsung module (which I replaced with 2X2GB DDR3 RAM)
3) 3-year Depot warranty
My first impressions are as follows:
Pros:
LED backlit LED is fantastic (besides a red stuck pixel it came with)
Extremely fast performance after installing 4GB RAM along with the Ultimate
64-bit version of Vista
Optical drive is excellent and fast
Solid build
Excellent battery life (made it about 6 hours )
Intel 5300 rocks
Cons:
Battery wobble. (I have to agree too)
Definitely inferior keyboard - compared to my Z61m, but still better than any other one out there (mine came with NMB).
No DVI - come on Lenovo
For this labtop, I paid for it extremely cheap $850 (inc tax ). I also bought on the side 2 x GB DDR3 RAM made by Samsung (OEM) for $135, along with a 7200rpm 160GB perpendicular hard drive made by Hitachi for $120. Nonetheless, It's a super notebook for the money I spend (total $850+255 = $1055 including 3 years warranty).
No matter If Thinkpad's quality build has declined over the past years, it still remains the best PC company out there. Obviously, since thinkpads are made in China now, will not be as complete as they used to in terms of build quality. This is reasonable due to the significant decrease of cost, thus as cost declines --> production quality declines (ex. I paid $1955 for my Z61m 2 year ago). However, you will not be disappointed because Lenovo is doing a good job offering an excellent laptop for a very competitive price.

At another thread, a new T400 arrived with a pretty nasty palm rest/chassis flex. You can see it here.

Yeah... welcome to the T400 club... You will never regret with it, i just got mine and been using it for past 10 days... I have to say, this is the laptop so far the best I have every use... I got 9-cell and the battery life were amazing!! My old T61P can't even bet T400 in term of battery and size. The only thing, I feels it should have been here will be built-in memory card reader, smart card reader and HDMI... But what the hack, you can get it using PCMCIA and how often you will use the HDMI!!!

The DOS thing was glitch in their system at the end of oct. I got one with DOS and no optical drive. It was much less than what OP paid. Lenovo has since fixed the error.
-
Great job on the pricing

Also, a quick trick, try to configure it after 12pm at night, because they normally have glitches in their website that time - they normally perform website maintenance at time. For instance, when I checked last night, you could configured any T series labtop with "free 3 year depot warranty". Today, they fixed it, but will show up again -
If I'm not an IBM shareholder, isn it illegal to use that code?

OK, I see SPP offers 15% off in thinkpad laptops. Thanks for share the code.
Hope lenovo offers 20% off at CPP for black friday/cyber monday. -
Delete that SPP code quick mixnightlife, before a mod has to delete it.
(but thanks for the code ) -
Are there any ecoupons that could also applied? please advise. thanks
