    Hello guys,

I have read so many threads regarding the different between T61 and R61. Finally, I made a decision to order R61 as follow:

    INTEL CORE2DUO PROC. T8300 2.4 Gz
    MS WIN VISTA HOME PREMIUM
    14.1WXGA +TFT,W/OCAM
    INTLGMA X3100 GM965W/1394
    3GB PC2-5300 667MHZ 2DIMM
    SBB 160GB HDD,7200RPM
    DVDREC.8XMAXDUAL L.ULT.ENH
    INT.WIRE.WIFI/LINK4965AGN
    INTEGR.BLUETOOTH PAN
    6 CELL LI-ION BATERRY
    3 YEARS - PICK-UP AND RETURN Warranty

It's kinda expensive, with total of 1007. US $ (Included everything, before tax)

am I buying too expensive system? I read some threads mentioned 100$ cheaper with almost similar spec. If later, the same spec can be configured with cheaper price, can I do a price match?

I ordered this one to replace my old T30 (2366B2U, since Feb 03), which now has problems with LCD pair (already order replacement part via e-bay though).

The old T30 systems broke kinda often. During three-year warranty, I changed mainboard twice (because I installed 512 ram, but the system detects only 256 MB, and they changed my mainboard for that! ).

After warranty expired, I changed the system fan once (fan failed), harddisk broken once (aleady sent to check, it's broken from the inside) and the current LCD pair.

My friend ask me that based on experience, why i am still continue with thinkpad. Can you guys give me some reason to support too? :D ;)

Will tell u guys again when the system arrive. I wish nothing bad happening with my machine (esp with Vista & Lenovo problem) :)

Congrats on the machine. I haven't seen the R61 yet, but the T61s I've seen have been nice.

If you're looking to save a few bucks the WiFi card, CPU and memory are probably some good places to start. I think unless you have a specific need, the 3945 is probably fine. You can probably get a 2GB stick of memory for $40, maybe less if you can get a deal. I don't know that bumping up to the T8300 offers you much unless again you have a specific need.

    Well done.
    Really well done.
I haven't take an R61 only because in Italy it costs a little too much.
For me it is one (Maybe the only one) of the best business notebook in commerce.

I did a price match when I bought my T61p. Can only be done once per item within 21 days from purchase.

    Worked out well for me.

Does seem a little pricey for the specs.
All depends on what kind of deals Lenovo has going on.

I just checked the price in my home country. The price in US is somewhat 500- 700 $ cheaper than the model in my country.

See this link, it cost around 1300$ with 1 year warranty.

It might be because thinkpad is concentrate more on corporate customers than on retail users, so they set higher price and give lots of discount with direct order from organizations.
