I see you had to purchase the Vista Home edition :D It really is too bad about the whole dos licensing. But congrats on the purchase, we're in the waiting pool together now!

yea, sorta sucks i couldn't get the dos license, but atleast if i ever, for some strange reason, want to go vista, i can. i'm 99% sure i'll be installing xp once i get it though.

    and i'm sure i'll enjoy it :D

I have ordered it too. The bad part that it takes forever to receive it. Still no news from Lenovo. I might give it a call.

when did you order? i'm sure you're eventually going to get yours, so calling would probably be pointless as they are most likely going to say something like, "it's been shipping don't worry," or "blah blah has delayed the process and it will soon be shipped."

I ordered mine with the Vista business license. Only problem is I do CAD work for a living, so I'm not sure if I'll be dual booting xp so I can run Solidworks and Pro E, I've read mixed things saying they either work great or horribly with vista. I guess time will tell. I bought the Vista though because its "the future" and I don't want to not know how to work it when they finally end support for xp heh.

i was thinking about getting vista business 64 because it was only an extra $20, but if i want a 64bit version of vista, i guess i can request the 64bit version of home premium. maybe eventually i'll see how cheap i can get vista ultimate 64bit for if i really want/need to use vista. i dunno, from all the things i've heard and read, vista will not run well on 1gb of ram, it takes a lot of tweaking to make it work well, and xp just runs things (like games) better. plus, i already own winxp, so i think i'm just going to "downgrade" to xp once i get the laptop instead of using vista.

unless of course someone has an opinion on this situation :D

Since we're on the topic of OS's, I actually had a quick question in case anyone knew the answer. I purchased it with the 32bit Vista Business. If I ever wanted to test out the same thing but 64 bit, how would I go about doing that? I wouldn't have to buy a new license right? I think I read that the 32bit license works for the 64 bit as long as its the same version?

no, there's a way to request the 64bit cd from microsoft if you own the 32bit license. you just pay for shipping (i think its ~$10). let me see if i can find the link...

I know, I was/am very suprised. I was also contemplating calling and being like well is there anything you can offer me like upgraded shipping for the hassle? But I don't want to be an ass, and they did have that free shipping deal to being with. So although I *wish* theyd be like ok heres free shipping upgrade or something for the mixup (which I would completely love them for) I dont think I will. What do you guys think?

i mean i find it pretty bad that they posted the wrong tracking number on your order... as long as i knew i was getting the laptop and nothing was cancelled or sent somewhere else i'd be happy with that. i'd call and ask for a set time, not an estimated one :D

however, accidents happen i suppose. things get lost in big corporations very easily, but i don't think stuff like this should happen. yea, you're right, i don't think you should call and complain, but i'd ask/demand for specific dates and such instead of asking for free upgraded shipping.

Yeah. asking for a set time and not an estimate was the original plan, I think I'll stick with that. Mistakes do happen I guess, and I can't complain about something that probably wasn't a single persons fault. I'm gonna call them today I'll post back either here or in my thread about what I hear from Lenovo's people.
