I've finally stopped torturing myself over this decision. After a month of obsessing over specifications, reviews, and prices I've ordered the Thinkpad R60 (UL154UK)

    # Intel Centrino Core Duo T2400 Processor 1.83 GHz
    # 512 MB DDRII-667MHz SDRAM
    # 80 GB Hard Drive
    # DVDRW± Drive
    # 15" XGA TFT Screen 1400x1050
    # ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 PCI-E 128 MB HyperMemory graphics

I'd love to have gone for the T60... But in the end it was the lack of Firewire and the fact that a 1400x1050 screen on the T60 would have pushed the price up too much.

So, once again, thanks for all the advice and reviews - this is a great forum.

The configuration options on the T60 keep changing...now the only 15" 1400x1050 is the Flexview, which, as you stated drives the price up $900 because it requires that you get the 2.33 ghz chip.

The R60 is a fine machine. Not everyone needs the T.
