Ever since T400s got released I have been eagerly waiting for some good deal. Finally I ordered mine on 12th with following spec:

    2801CTO ThinkPad T400s - 1 Yr Depot Warranty (Ships within 9 bus. days** )
    Intel Core 2 Duo SP9400 processor (2.40GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)
    Genuine Windows Vista Business 64
    T400s 14.1WXGA+ LED B/L
    Intel GMA 4500MHD
    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 (1 DIMM)
120GB Hard Disk drive, 5400rpm 1.8" Low Halogen
    DVD Recordable, Ultrabay Slim
    T400s 6 cell Prismatic Battery
    Intel WiFi Link 5100
Price: CAD 1556.83 (Including shipping & handling)

There is no mention about the webcam I added to the configuration.
After completing my order I got two mails from Lenovo. Both of them say that the SCHEDULE DATE: 14.08.2009.
Does anybody knows what it means. I don't see any estimated shipping date. When I checked on lenovo in myaccout all it says is submitted.
I am sure it might take atleast two weeks (optimistically) before they ship out my order. But just curious about SCHEDULE DATE.
I have ordered from Lenovo Canada and I live in Montreal.
    Any input is appreciate.
    Thanks

Your order page should have stated Estimated Shipping Date (ESD), which is a very rough estimate of when they are shipping out the system from China. Since you placed an order on 12th, 14th "schedule date" makes no sense. Call them up directly. Just as an example, I placed my order for T400s the day it was introduced, 23rd, and it arrived to NJ exactly 3 weeks later. As soon as they ship the system, link to a tracking number will be available.

Good luck!!! You really gonna enjoy this laptop!!!

my schedule date was 8/13 when i ordered on 8/10. After inquiring with Lenovo they told me that the estimated ship date was 8/26. Which brings up the question of what a schedule date is.

I ordered a T400 not the "s" model, so my case may be different.

For Lenovo Canada, you probably won't get an estimated shipping date on your website account until they have gone through "Submitted" and "In Process". The next phase is "Invoiced, Shipped on ______", then you have a Estimated Ship date. Although the "Shipped on" date and "Est. Ship date" are off by one day. Maybe they should provide a syllabus for users. :)

not necessarily. I ordered on 8/10 and found out today that my order shipped (8/15). What Lenovo told me was that my est shipping date was 8/26. So i guess those dates aren't correct for the most part

I ordered a T500 on 7/22. It shipped 7/25 and arrived in Toronto (its destination city) on 7/27. So shipping can occur relatively quickly.

I still have not received my T500. But that's the topic of a different thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=404872) :)

Well I guess my case won`t be the same. My order is still in hopeless `SUBMITTED`stage.

You're right, FleXx, those dates are really unreliable.

arunmkumaran, is it possible that your order is caught in the Back to School rush? This is purely speculative and has no basis whatsoever, consider with extreme caution. :D

Your order is taking way too long. Have you emailed them or phoned them (may wait up to an hour) to inquire about your order. The worst case scenario is a 3 - 4 weeks wait along with risk of mis-shipping like scholar80's situation.

If you get multiple inconclusive replies, try going to the lenovo's forum for the shipping thread and ask your questions there.

Thanks Viva! I will call Lenovo tomorrow and see how it goes. I might have to cancel my order if it is delayed for too long.

Well Just talked to the customer care (?) Wasn't any helpful. They don't have a estimated shipping date. All I got was 2-3 weeks. If nothing happens this week I might have to cancel order. What a bummer!

2-3 weeks is reasonable. Why would you want to cancel the order? You will not get charged until it actually shipped out. If nothing happens within 2-3 weeks, than you can cancel it.

I am not sure about the tracking number. As the CS agent I talked this morning told me that I could call them after the product is shipped to get the tracking number.

Which e-mail address did you use? I don't see any in their site

Yes 2-3 weeks is not a problem with me provided I receive my laptop by that time frame. It has been in "SUBMITTED" state for a while now. Finally it has changed to "IN PROCESS". Still no estimated ship date though (that column is still blank). If I don't get it shipped by next Friday then I have no other option coz I need a laptop for school.

Today I got my T400s. I have been playing with it for a while now. So far it is one the best laptop's I have own (even though it is not graphically as powerfull as my old LG P300). The build quality is very good and i am loving the keyboard (This is my first thinkpad). 1.8" HDDI ordered seems tad slower than 2.5" hdd but may be its vista (will get a better idea in few days).

The screen is good IMO. Yes it does suffer from poor viewing angle but not to the extent it would stop me from suggesting T400s. My problem is really anemic speakers (I know it is business notebook) and literally endless crapwares.

    Edit:
    It is a Samsung Panel
