After weeks of bouncing back and forth between a T60, HP NC8430, and even Compal Hel80, I finally went with the T60. Final configuration:
    T7200
    1GB PC5300 1DIMM
    X1400
    flexview
    9 cell
    1 year depot
    DVDRW
    XP Pro
    60GB 7200rpm
    fingerprint
    all for $1767 after tax.

Unfortunately there is a memory shortage, so the estimated shipping date of 12/2 is probably going to be 2 weeks longer. Can't wait for it to get here.

Check out the sales and preconfigured models they have. No, that isn't too expensive in comparison to Canada even, where that machine is $2250+.

No it's not - note that he got the flexview screen (which by the way I highly recommend).

I got the flexview thanks to all the high praise it got on this forum. It should be nice, I look forward to it. And thanks to everyone here and all the reviews, its been extremely helpful in picking out a notebook.

The expected shipping date has been moved back to the 12th (from the 2nd). I understand that they are having trouble getting memory, but if I call up is there any chance they could upgrade my shipping for free?

Oh, and one more thing. I found some guy that works for IBM. He was going to let me use his employee number for the EPP program, but I didnt end up using it because of the holiday sale. He said he has 1 or 2 uses left for this year, so if you want, PM me and I can send you his email address and you can ask him if its still OK.

You can try calling them and asking if they can ship sooner.

I am planning on getting 1GB of memory to install later on, its much cheaper than what lenovo charges. Although, I just noticed the upgrade to 1.5GB is only $9. I might call up and get that, I'm sure I could sell the extra 512mb for more than $9 and put it towards that extra 1GB.

I thought about getting the cheapest HD then upgrading to the 100GB 7K100, but decided against it because I would like to try and upgrade to one of those hybrid drives that should come out next year, and in the meantime, I won't use more than 60gb.

I see you went with the Flexview screen as I had. I hope it will be worth every penny of the extra $315.00.

It better be. When you ordered your T60, did they have the wireless N card option online, or did you call? I was told today it is no longer available.

For the T60 the N was never avaiable, you always had to call.

I think the flexview is worth it, but then I do a lot of photo editing. It's exactly as advertised (can view it at any angle), so if you thought it was worth it when you ordered it you'll likely think the same when you get it. When I went back to my old laptop (taking off all my stuff so that I could give it to my dad), I thought it had somehow been set to a non-native resolution the difference in image qualities is so great.

Just called lenovo and was able to add the N wireless card ($30), and another 512MB of memory since it was only $9 more.

Lenovo only charged me $173 for 2 gigs of ram...I don't think that's expensive at all...$87 a gig is not a bad price especially when you don't have to replace it yourself OR take a chance on getting memory that doesn't work.

Hope you like your machine as much as I do mine. Good Luck! Cory
