    After 40+ days, I've received my x61...

I LOVE IT. It's so sexy.

But, I have one very very big problem. I ordered with 2 gb of ram. The vista system settings, says I only have 1 gb. What should I do?

    As quoted below:

Since I'm not familiar with these kind of things, can somebody give me some opinion or suggestions?

I'm planning to purchase from here...

How come the Lenovo branded memory is still so expensive?

Furthermore, which should I go for, if I want an extra 1 gb? extra 2 gb?

    Thanks

    Haha.

I'm thinking that I may tell them to reimburse me for that 1 gb and I go buy my own ram instead.

Can I miss and match brands on ram? or do I have to purchase the same brand?

Its like half the price if you buy your own, if i buy another laptop from any company(or desktop if i was really stupid) Always buy it with minimum memory as prices plummeted

sorry to sound like a smartass but I have been waiting since dec. 20th 07 for a machine from them!!

I am cancelling tomorrow and going out and just buy a computer.

Good luck with customer service.....knowing them they will likely charge you for the ram they did not put in :/

All memory sticks sold by almost all computer manufacturers (Dell, HP, etc.) are expensive, not just Lenovo.

If you want to buy extra RAM, it is better to buy it as an aftermarket upgrade. It's not difficult to install at all, just make sure you're grounded and can't create any static shocks to your system before attempting the installation.

Look at the RAM Deals here in NBR for more information.
