Would a T400/T500 owner do me a favor and temporarily set a HDD password in the BIOS (just the user one), enter it on boot, and then try to standy/sleep and then resume? Does your laptop hang? Did it hang when resuming with sleep without the password? What OS are you using? It's just as easy to disable the HDD password by entering "changing" the existing one in the BIOS, and entering an empty password (just press enter twice). Anyone already have a password set in their T400 for the HDD?
This appears to be an issue with T410 laptops, and I'm wondering if the T400 series has the same problem. Going back a generation could help resolve some questions..
This would be a huge help, especially if the T400 doesn't have this problem, and I can try to resolve it Lenovo support with the T410 series (The T510 probably has the same problem).

no problem with the T400 i got.
What bios version do you have? -
Just upgraded to a T400 a week ago and tried the HDD Password and so far no resuming issues. Using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with the latest 3.16 BIOS dated 19/04/10.
The BIOS can be found here: ThinkPad T400 BIOS -
I have the T410. If I set the HDD password, put the computer to sleep and try to turn it on, the system hangs. I have a FDE HDD, but I also tried it with a non-FDE and I get the same issue.
Do you guys have AMT/vPro? It's the latest BIOS, from a couple weeks ago.
You need to set at least a HDD password if you want an FDE HDD to be protected. -
maybe you should downgrade the bios the version before.

It's always done that, regardless of the BIOS version. I've tried about 4-5 versions.

Favor from a T400/T500 owner
