I have an odd issue with the 9 cell battery on my x230. Once it gets down to 23%, I get an error saying I need to plug in my laptop and says it's only 6%. A short while later Power Management says it's at 6% as well. It seems like 7%-22% doesn't exist on my battery. What is going on?
A couple of observations. 1)The battery is almost brand new. 2) It only has 11 cycles on it. 3) It says it's in good health. 4) At no point does Power Management or any other problem get "stuck" when giving me feedback on the percentage remaining. For example, it doesn't hit 23% and say there for an hour and then go down to 6%. Any thoughts? Could one or more of the cells in the battery be damaged somehow?
Both Power Management and the Battery firmware are up-to-date. The only thing I haven't done is do a battery reset. I hate to do that to a new battery as it can be harmful to it. (I also believe that a new battery shouldn't have this problem to begin with.... )
Worse comes to worst, I can always call up Lenovo and ask for a replacement. I just wanted to see if this is common issue for I'm missing something.

That used to happen on my X220T on my brand new 6-cell battery, but at 35% capacity. Some people have said that when they start up Power Manager after that happens it goes away, and others have said it will go away if you do a battery reset. I did the latter and haven't noticed the issue coming up anymore. However, I don't usually go below 40%, but the few times I have nothing happened all the way down to 20% (at which point I shutdown/hibernate/charge).

I'm doing a battery reset as I speak. I'm also running Prime95 to speed up the process. I talked to someone last night from Lenovo about and they weren't exactly helpful. After not understanding the problem they wanted to remote connect to my laptop and I'm not letting someone I don't know access to all of my private information. I'll see if a reset fixes the problem....
Faulty battery?
