Great.....I see that there's Father's Day sale that replaced the 25% off now available.

Discount isn't as good, but T7700 is back on as an option.

Selecting the nVidia option will delay your order according to this as well.

Just finished full configuration to my (Tailormade+25% off order) and the sale isn't that great. I guess we will see what happens with Independence Day.

Yeah I see it too. But it got me wondering.

Lets say I decide to get my pops a nice new laptop for father's day. Wouldn't I be super embarased that the laptop won't come in a "timely" fashion?

    Thanks for the heads up.

The machine I had been configuring came out to a little over $100 more with the Father's Day sale (compared to Memorial Day sale).

You are so not thinking.......this will come in time for Father's day next year.....duh?!?!?!?! :D

But seriously, this is a terrible idea to put this sale up right away like this, or to use Father's day as an excuse. I know other models will ship fairly quick so I know that there are certain items that people can get in time for father's day, but they could have waited until next week for the 25% off hype to die down a bit.

The funny thing: very basic T61 is even cheaper now ($940 with no discounts), but only 512M RAM
    upgrades cost more today :(

Yeah, I noticed that when I was configuring last night. The base models seemed better priced but once I went in to configure, I noticed that the sale price was not reflected on upgrades.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing. The base price was cheaper, but all the upgrades were more expensive -- and you know most people upgrade (who gets the base model!?!)

I ordered my T61 last night. The same configuration now would be about $125-$150 more. They do have the 15.4 inch version now though, which if I did things correctly, was cheaper than the 14.1 inch version. Kinda weird I think.

Anyway, just goes to show that, like the stock market, you can't always time these things and you should just order when you need or want to -- there will always be a better deal down the road ( or worse in this case ;-) )

I find it interesting that 25% offer is still on the home page. I really don't think it would be that hard to remove that portion from the front page, but they must be swamped with other work (hopefully the shipping error).

I have noticed a vague pattern on lenovo's sales.

    1. they ALWAYS have a sale. it's just a matter of how good it is
    2. in the last two months, they've been having 2 weeks sales alternating a big sale and a lesser sale.
    3. sometimes they will throw in extra upgrade sales in the second half of lesser sales

so this means, after this lesser father's day sale, there should a better one in two weeks. probably in time for july 4th sale.--is this the legendary gi-normous back to school sale? maybe i can get a price adjustment based on this sale after all with the delays in shipping T61.

Good observation. I guess they must be aiming for higher sales figure.

But, as we've seen mentioned, before your order ships you can call them up at any time and have them give you the current price. Also, you get 21 days after shipment to price match. Assuming you don't get your laptop until mid/late june that'd surely cover the july 4th sale. So go ahead and order the laptop, just stay on top of the current sales to see if you could get it cheaper.

Yeah, that is the only reason why I am so relaxed about the shipping delay. I figure if it is late, I will be able to see the Independence Day deal as well. But it would still be hard to beat the price that I got.

i think fatwallet is telling lenovo there are too many orders so they have to delay them untill the end of their 6% deal :)
