So I'm looking at upgrading from 8 to 16GB of ram, and I want to spend my money wisely.

I've heard that 2133Mhz is the sweet spot with Haswell, but I don't know if the laptop can support it. Does anyone know?

According to multiple reviews on the internet, the T520/T420 support running overclocked memory higher than the officially supported by the processor.
Even though their processors support only DDR3-1333 , some have successfully ran 1600/1866 RAM.

I assume that T440p should be the same, although I do not really know.

The processor on the T440p officially support DDR3L-1600, so never get anything below 1600 for that laptop, and if you get higher, make sure they are DDR3L (1.35v).

Ram speed mostly shows when running GFX on the integrated graphics only, otherwise, it does not show allot of difference in real world
