Does anyone know of a utility i could use to control the fan on a new Lenovo 3000 N100? Would TPFanControl work or is that specifically for the Thinkpads?

Do you want hardware or software?

Software would be the quick fix. What hardware method are you thinking of? I noticed no settings what so ever in the BIOS. Update BIOS to the latest version.
Just installed Notebook Hardware Control and it doesn't appear to control the fans directly, and im not so sure i want to start lowering CPU voltages. The notebook is running Vista and i have the power settings set to control CPU dynamically.
Fan runs continuously sometimes for more than a minute at a time when i have just the browser open, other times itll run 20-30 secs shut off for 10-15 and start that cycle all over again.

You can always consider a multi-fan controller. Sorry I've got to go now but I'll keep my eye out for software for you if that's ok?

Well it looks as if NHC might do the trick if i knew how to write the ACPI control system file it requires. Unfortunately programming is not my strong point and it doesnt appear as if anyone has done it for the Lenovo notebook.
More info on the NHC ACPI: http://www.pbus-167.com/nhc/nhc_advanced.htm#anchor_acpi_programming

NHC is a pretty sweet app none the less and seems light on the resources.
    Any other suggestions are appreciated
