I've posted this in other threads and it seems nobody has ever encountered this before. I thought maybe I'd catch someones attention that has come across this problem by making a new topic.
Basically, on thursday 6/21 I got two identical copies of an email saying "Lenovo shipment confirmation" with my order number attached. It's a generated email that I will copy on the bottom of this post. In the email there was a link to my order status page. However that status on the page has yet to change from "In Process". I called lenovo on thursday and yesterday to try to figure this out. They said that it is showing that nothing shipped on their computers and that their system is update "to the minutes". I even talked to tony from the executive relations dept, who seems like a nice guy. He said the same stuff as the rep I spoke to.
So I've been waiting to see if maybe something will fix itself but nothing yet. My credit card hasn't been charged(I even called my credit card company today to make sure). I didn't order any extra parts that they would need to mail to me. Just the t61, a 3 year upgraded warranty, and the "gift" battery which is supposed to ship after my computer is mailed out.
I'm afraid that maybe they went to process my order and something went wrong. Maybe my order needs to be rebooked again, or was sent to the back of the queue. I don't know, but it doesn't seem like it would be a coincidence that I received those emails. They are automatically sent to you when your computer is shipped, I don't think that happens for no reason.
Anyway I was wondering if anyone has encountered anything like this before because it didn't seem like any of the guys I spoke to at lenovo had seen this before. What would you think if you were in my situation?
Here is was what said in the email I received.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for choosing Lenovo!
All or part of your order has shipped. In some instances your order may be
shipped from more than one location, which will result in multiple
notifications. You will only be invoiced for products that have shipped.
Please visit our online status tool to view the latest information on the
status of your order:
(Shipment tracking numbers, if applicable, will be posted to the website
within 24 hours.)
Customer Number: XXXXXXX
Order: XXXXXX
NOTE: Please do not respond to this message; it comes from a notification
only address that cannot accept replies.

Have you tried giving them a call first?
-
Yes, I called lenovo on thursday and friday to try to figure this out. They said that it is showing that nothing shipped on their computers and that their system updates "to the minute". I even talked to tony from the executive relations dept, who seems like a nice guy. He said the same stuff as the rep I spoke to. They have no idea why I received those emails, no explanation, nothing.

I really want my T61, but if when I call on Monday and they have dont resolve the issue on my order, Im going to order a Vaio FZ laptop.
Apparently they do not see my order number and my customer number in their system -
When did you place your order? I ordered my T61 on Monday (6/18) and got a tracking number this morning. It appears they're catching up on the backlog
-

they are "catching up on the backlog"... but that is not why your order (6/18) went out. they dont want all their customers to be pissed so even though i ordered mine on 5/14 i didnt get a shipping notice till 6/21 and there are people from before my order that havent gotten their shipping notices yet. i think lenovo has put the "may" orders on hold and are doing them as they have extra free time from their usual orders.
and for you jd1010 heres my thought, since they are putting our orders out last priority (it seems) i think somone else ordered the same system as you and they decided to give it to them instead after your email had already been sent. then they changed your order back to "in-process" before you could have seen it.
what do you guys think of that? -
My estimated ship date was July 19th but they got it out in a week. Well I have tracking number and they told me that it was shipped. I can only hope that they're telling me the truth.

Did you order any accessories, such as a mini dock, notebook carrying case, etc.? Lenovo usually ships these separately from the laptop itself.
-
I also receivd an email stating that my order had been received (June 13) when I actually placed it on (May 22) and would ship August 28. I called and they stated it was a mistake and that some customers had received a similar message and that my T61 would ship on June 26 which had been changed from June 8.
A little known but important fact has slipped through the cracks on Lenovo and may be contributing to these constant problems:
Stephen Ward, the IBM executive who became Lenovo's first chief executive after the takeover, resigned in December after a year on the job. Lenovo replaced Ward with Dell's No.3 executive, William Amelio, who has extensive experience in Asia. Amelio played a critical role in getting Dell established in China and you can expect a Dell look alike in Lenovo going forward if Amelio remains. -

Could it be that the freebie battery got shipped?
-
Nope.. I didn't order it with any other accessories. Just the laptop.
