My X200s came with a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit so the stock Lenovo drivers were not installed. The machine has a modem but I figured I'll install the drivers for it anyway even though I may not have any use for it. I got them off the website: http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/downloads/migr-70328
I tried to install it but I get an error saying "Driver Installation Failed. Could not find the MODEM device for this driver"
I first thought the modem was disabled in the bios but it doesn't have this setting. Any ideas?

Have you tried System or Windows Update?
-
I tried but still the system doesn't recognise the modem under Device Manager.
I found out that the modem is a Conexant RD02-D450 but I can't seem to find any drivers for Win 7. -
Install 7zip.
Right click the driver EXE file.
Chose to open or extract as an archive.
Extract all to a new folder on your desktop.
Go to task manager.
If the modem is not where it is supposed to be, it may be elsewhere as 'unknown device' or some such else, so look out for it.
Right click it and select 'properties'.
Choose to update the driver and select your own file from disk
Point it towards the new folder on the desktop and click OK.
It will work for a bit and either be successful or not.
If that doesn't work then download Driver Identifier and let it scan your system. You will be taken to a page with download links to all your outdated or missing drivers - chances are it will be there and you can download a driver for Windows 7.
P.S: People still use modems in 2015? -
I tried Driver Identifier and the modem is not even listed there. Does it mean it's a defective hardware part?
Also, there are no unknown devices under device manager.
As I mentioned in my first post, I don't use a modem but would like everything installed and working. -
If you can find a copy of the SWTOOLs folder, you could have it search there, though you'd need to install Windows via the recovery discs to get the folder. That's what I do when I can't find a driver and it usually works. Have you tried the driver for XP, Vista, 8/8.1 or 10? That sometimes works.
