Recently, I've been using WinDirStat to cut down on my hard disk usage, as I'm thinking about moving to an SSD in the near future, and want to see whether 80 or 128GB would be a good size for me.

But anyway, to cut to the chase: WinDirStat found a directory, C:\SWShare\split\FactoryRecovery, that has more than 7GB of backups in it, with the names of "cdrivebackup.swm" up to "cdrivebackup14.swm" and then two files with the names of "sdrivebackup.swm" and "sdrivebackup2.swm".

At first, I thought these were the R&R recovery images, but then I found that R&R had no disk images recorded, and also, I don't even have an S drive/partition.

Also, all of these files were created and last modified on 02/09/2009, the day I first booted up my Thinkpad.

So, my question is, what are these files, and what consequences, if any, would I face if I deleted them? Thanks.

Just wondering, have you burned any factory recovery CDs/DVDs?

Yes, I have burned my Vista factory recovery disks, and have deleted the Lenovo partition.
