After that, you still get the switchable graphics feature function without problems?

Ops. I thought you were just talking about getting the lastest ati driver to work. I disable the switchable graphics option in the bios since I always use the Ati card. My bad....

so whts the current situation with the HD3470 being underclocked? Did Lenovo release any drivers that put this back to manufacturer's spec or is it still underclocked? I was about to put an order in and i found this thread so Im wondering.

Im not much of a gamer....only things i play are HL2 Episode 2 and CS:Source

IDK what the OP is talking about. The dedicated is more powerful than the integrated. I game often and the difference is obvious. I cant even run the native resolution of my external monitor (TV) with the integrated.

Sorry if this is obvious, but I had these questions:

    - Why can't I just d/l Catalyst 9.8 (lastest version as of today) and install that?
    - Why is the modtool necessary? What does it give you?
    - Does this affect the hybrid graphics ability? (switching between ATI and Intel on the T400)

    Thanks in advance.

correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure if you use 9.8 drivers, you lose on-the fly switchable graphics in vista. you can still use integrated card through a reboot and change in bios, however. Also, it does not apply to xp or 7, as neither has on-the fly switchable graphics as of now.

I guess another question would be, how much battery life extension do you see between the ati and intel? It seems to me, the difference in not that great at all (maybe 10 minutes or so).

Curious what other people's take is on it.

As I am already running Win7 I could not test it but imo you can at least use the 9.8 CCC without losing the switching function. BUT if you use the driver of 9.8 then you will pretty sure not be able to switch any more.

There is quite some difference. On my 6-cell battery I get 4h with the discrete and 6+h on integrated, so the switching is really useful (and thus highly awaited for Win7 :) )

    Greetz!

Is this declocking of the ATI 3470 confirmed and understood. Is the integrated graphics card acceptable for autocad. I do not game?
