Hey everyone... not sure if anyone else has already mentioned it, but I just received an email today with regards to my Free Gift shipping (I chose the Free 6 Cell battery for the T61) It says it shipped yesterday, so I'm assuming I'll get it soon! Will update when I get it!
-
mine didnt ship yet *violin*
-
me neither
-
Encouraging to hear! I'm waiting for them to say they will send mine.
Did you have to do anything? Did they just go by their response email that said they'd track your order after you answered the first email? -
how do you get a free battery?!
-
I just got my order number but it is still "In Process"
-
I too got an order number, but I had to email them asking the status of my battery. They said I have to allow up to 14 days for processing. Whatever
-
mine shipped today as well
-
how did you guys get this free battery?
-
hi... i was offered the free battery, but even tho my laptop is arrived, theres no order number of the new battery, nor the notification email about it... how does this thing work out? will i receive any emails?
thanks! -
-
i got my order number ... um but its only 5 digits ???
order numbers are supposed to be 6 and customer numbers are 7 right??? -
-Vaitte -
I just got an email today too. Vaitte, if you click on your regular order number and then replace the last string of numbers with the new order info (keeping your customer id in place), you should be able to pull up the shipping/order info for the new battery.
-
<--- still has no emailz
-
I actually just got my email today. It said it'd take approx 14 days to get to me... dang thats long.... anyone get it before 14 days? I havent seen the tracking since they ship on the 5th
-
I see they changed the estimated ship date for the battery from 7/3/07 to 7/17/07.
Oh well. -
My battery shipped early in the week with delivery scheduled for 7/6.
-
My battery shipped today. Guess they can't make up their minds on any estimated shipping dates.
-
I received the email update about my battery. Hope it ships soon!!!
-
Got Mine on Thurs 7/5
-
got mine today, but I might return the computer since it's defective, instead of having it repaired. If I didn't care about it being repaired I would have bought a refurbished one, which, at least, has the benefit of the doubt.
-
They shipped my free battery... But i returned my laptop....
what should i do ?
I kinda feel i earned it after their ****...

Ask your mom what you should do. -
-
My battery shipped, the item number is 41U3198.
Is this compatible with 14" ws T61? Look up on lenovo.com, it only says compatible with T60. -
Got my battery today. Yes, it's compatible. The footprint and connections look identical to my 7 cell battery.
Now I have two batteries and no T61 until it is returned from the repair depot (going on 4 weeks). -
How did you get a free battery?
-
Yeah, sign me up for a free 6 cell too!! (Does ordering the 160G HD count as enough of an excuse?)
-
The free batteries were for T61 people who got an email from Lenovo concerning problems with their order (search on "Lenovo Critical Orders"). Some people are STILL waiting for the T61's to ship. The people who ordered earliest often waited weeks and weeks to get their machines. I got the email, got my T61 only a few weeks late but as I mentioned, it had problems and I no longer have it at home.
-
You have a brand new laptop in repair for 4 weeks ?
That's crazy where do you live ? (usa ? other country ?)
-- -
I finally got it back today. Read: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=141168
If you have a T61, please check your hardware. I'm in Virginia. By the way, my laptop was first delivered to me on 6/13. It returned from repair on 7/13 (sent off on 6/19).
I initially had a cycling BSOD on the first day. Restored all software via thinkvantage button but still had a few stray strange things happening. Called a couple days later. I ran the diagnostics they asked me to run and they said to send it in the following week.
Yeah, I'm not very happy either. -
Aren't they obligated by the service contract to have it repaired in a limited amount of time ?
-
I don't think so. They claimed they didn't have the part.
First claim was that there was nothing wrong.
They apparently didn't even have the info I provided the support guys.
Then they said it might be out of warrantee. Yeah, right. I bought this direct from Lenovo. Then they determined I needed a new part. Out of stock. Waited a week for this thing to show up. More warrantee problems. Get it fixed and shipped.
I ran the diagnostics they told me to and it reported MSBIOS as failed. Ran it again on the machine today. Got the identical MSBIOS failed report with identical problems listed. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=141168
I really really need a few of you guys to run the hardware check using the thinkvantage button. I need to know if all laptops are reporting these same errors or if it is unique to my laptop.
If you run the tests, please please post on that other thread. -
Sorry i returned mine... -
Back to the real thread topic:
My battery finally shipped today. Now that my laptop is in check, I just need to get myself a b*tch. Any suggestions guys? -
I just got my free gift: 3-cell ultrabay batt (ask and you shall receive!)
ok, so T61 14.1, 7 cell + 3 cell, windows xp, nvs 140m, T7300, 7200rpm hdd, 2gb ram =
brightness to low - ~7.5hrs
brightness at max (set in bios) - ~5.5-6hrs
its so pimp, i love it -
I got my free battery a few days ago. But I think there may be a problem! I got the 6-cell for the T61. Here's the stats:
New 6-cell
Panasonic
56.16 Wh
10.8 V
Original 7-cell
Sanyo
65.62 Wh
14.4 V
As you can see, the new battery is of a lower voltage. Interestingly enough, the computer still boots with the new free battery w/o AC. I'm not sure if this is a problem, but could you all check your stats in the battery manager? -
The battery you are supposed to have has 10.8 V.
Here's some info on mine from the battery details:
One I ordered 7 cells made by SANYO, design voltage is 10.8. You find it in the right hand column under battery details. Design capacity is 65.52 Wh (I imagine this is watt hours). The left hand column seems to change depending on charge. Charging stats change with time. Initial current is higher. Voltage changes over time also. Wattage in left hand column goes down as charging tapers.
Free battery by Panasonic has same design voltage. Design capacity 56.16 Wh. Hope this helps. -
So if you ordered a T60, they send you a free T60 battery. And if you ordered a T61, they send you a free T61 battery. Is this how it works? Or does the T60 and the T61 share the same 6 cell battery?
-
No, no more free batteries. You get one with the laptop of course. The free batteries were a onetime deal for select customers who had severe problems with their orders back in May.
They received emails with apologies for long delivery times and scheduling problems (and an offer of a bag, battery, or additional power source). Some of these people are still waiting for their T61's (this was a T61 problem though other Lenovo customers have had difficulty with timely deliveries and sound shipping data also). -
aboutblank, I was looking in my troubleshooting and service guide and ran across something that may be pertinent to your battery specs.
Page 59 says for the 14.1 inch widescreen the nominal voltage is 10.8 or 14.4 V dc depending on the model. Capacity is 2.6 AH or 5.2 AH depending on the model. I had initially thought they were all 10.8 V but obviously I'm wrong.
So maybe your laptop is configured for the more powerful battery and the other one won't work quite as well. I would contact them and see what they say. You can also look at the specs for your machine online, I think.
