I have a R61 and have used the Fn + spacebar to temporarily magnify the screen. In the past it reduced the resolution but expanded it to full screen. I haven't used it in a month or so and now it reduces the resolution (640x480?) but leaves large black bars on all sides. Anyone have a fix for this?

Try reinstalling the hotkey driver. During the installation process, uncheck the On Screen Display feature and just install the Full Screen Magnifier.

I haven't figured out the real fix, but as an interim - right click, graphics options, panel fit, full screen.

For some reason, that option is selected for me in full res, but switches over to 'center desktop' when I hit fn+spacebar

I'm not sure it's a messed up display setting. When operating at the lower resolution, the panel fit option automatically switches from 'Full Screen (No Border)' to 'Center Desktop.' You can check the correct box, but if you go to full res and back to low res it re-checks 'Center Desktop' on its own.

I guess you won't be able to use the drop-down menus to change the setting when you are in a game - try Ctrl-Alt-F11 to toggle between the two modes. This is a keyboard shortcut defined under the video card settings.

To narrow down if this is an actual issue - does everyone who is experiencing this have integrated graphics?

I've been out of town for a few days and this was my first chance to try out the suggestions listed. I have reinstalled the hotkey driver and played with the settings but it stilled doesn't work on my R61 w/ onboard graphics. When it's in low res centered mode I can use the graphics options to expand to full screen but it loses those setting when it is next tried and goes back to centered with black bars all around when trying to magnify again. I wonder if it is not a hotkey driver problem but a compatibility with the newest graphics driver?

It's not that big a deal that the spacebar magnification isn't working but I have found it handy to use in the past w/ my 14" screen and wxga+ so any input is welcome. :)

That is the link but no luck. I used that link and uninstalled and reinstalled twice and still have the same results. It still does not work properly. Not really much else to try except to wait for new drivers.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the system interface driver had no effect. I appreciate the suggestions though. Anyone else with the latest thinkpad drivers and vista have this problem still?

My computer is a T61 with:

    integrated graphics (x3100)
    vista home premium
all of the latest lenovo and windows updates

This is a rather new problem - it only started within the last few weeks. I'm betting its a glitch with one of the recent updates.

    My display driver is version:
    7.14.10.1329
    9/13/2007

Its such a minor problem that I can't be sure of how long ago it started. It would be great if anyone could report if they have the driver and don't have the problem, or vice versa.

I have an X61 and I now have the same problem. I hardly ever use the feature but it worked a few weeks ago. I was showing my comp to a buddy and tried to do it last week and it didnt work. Probably a bad update.

I have this issue too on my t61p (nvidia) running vista with a wuxga screen. I have found a workaround is to go to my nvidia advanced display settings "change flat panel scaling" > change from "nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio " to "nvidia scaling". This is just a workaround, since now when I use the fullscreen zoom i get 640x480 all stretched out into widescreen... not ideal...

What i would like is to be able to select the resolution the zoom feature uses. For me that would be 1280x800. Anybody know any tips for hacking the configuration settings?

EDIT: forgot to mention i'm using nvidia forceware 169.09 drivers...
