Yep, just placed an order for the 2978FVU.
PM 1.7 Ghz
768 RAM
9600 Mobility Radeon
40 gig 5400 RPM HDD
DVD/CD-RW combo
3 year ThinkPad Protection Warranty
Total = 2177 before tax. Good stuff.
I was wavering between the Fujitsu S6210 and the IBM T42 for a while. The Fujitsu was smaller and lighter with an all-formate DVD burner, but the IBM is bulletproof with the Mobility 9600 Radeon. I figured I could always get a USB DVD Writer (they should drop in prices soon) and get the 14.1-in ThinkPad, which is only 4.5 pounds. All-in-all, I am happy. Now I just gotta be patient and wait for a big package to arrive sometime soon.

Twister: Is yours one of the 98 notebooks sitting in Louisville, KY right now? I'm waiting on one and hoping to arrives tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath... last I checked,:

I wish it would clear already! I'm guessing I won't see it until Tuesday though (after the July 4 holiday) My question: if I live in New York, why does it say the shipping address say it's going to McLean, VA?!

Oh and how much did you machine cost? Did you get any Educational or Shareholder pricing? That 1 gig of RAM and 7200 RPM drive sounds awfully sweet. I got the 5400 RPM due to cost efficiency and that post Brian made on the General board regarding HDDs. Seems like the 7200 RPM is definitely faster, but not by much.

I snagged the 2373-3UU with the 735 1.7 processor, 512MB, 14.1 SXGA+, 9600 graphics, 40GB, Intel 11a/b/g Wi-Fi, Blue Tooth.
Love it![8D]

Yeah, I got an extra memory module and I will be installing it myself. [8D]
Saved 50 bucks. -
That model was my original choice, but I fell in love with the form factor and size of the 14.1 inch screen model. It was a tough choice, the 15 inch one has a FlexView, but the 14.1 inch is more than pound lighter.
I just cant wait for it to get here! -

After much debate, I'm sending my 3UU back with one dead pixel in the middle of the 14.1 screen. I've also opted to go with the 2373-JXU 15.0 flexview. I need more screen real estate...
