    How old are you anyway?

It seems like your R40 has definitely had better days. You could just send it in to Lenovo or buy a new notebook. If you're feeling creative, you could probably even use super glue to stick those little suction cups back onto the keys.

Or buy a new keyboard. They are quite easy to replace. This is assuming you have tried to put them back on.

If it is not under warranty, then yes. Perhaps eBay would be a good option.

There is what appears to be some significant abrasive trauma along the top edge of the print screen key. This also appears to be the key where the little rubber nubbie has been sheared off.

Unless "doing buissness work on linux" intails throwing the laptop into a tree shredder, and/or you're pretty sure you haven't dropped a claw hammer on your keyboard recently, I'd say someone owes you an explanation.

I never knew how that happend... I think it could was from Lenovo people but they insist it was me. I have only used the notebook eversince I got it back from Lenovo a few times (5-6). I recognized that scratch few days ago... I got bad eyes or something. Can I buy a real japan keyboard from Lenovo or Do I gotta go somewhere.... Lenovo is expensive !! No "high quality" keyboard that don't cost as much as Lenovo asking me?

    Thanks!
P.S I called Lenovo and they told me, no warranty to bad! I went to argue and kept bashing... They said they will send me not the whole keyboard but just the keyboard keys and such? Why the **** do I need this? I had to pay for shipping but other than that I going to get it...

As far as I'm concerned, they do keep a report on the calls/claims made to Lenovo. I called Lenovo (or IBM I don't know) this Monday and the CSR recognized that I was a first time caller and probably made more of an attempt to satisfy my needs (i.e. I got a better deal than you). I wouldn't consider him a great CSR as his tone was serious and felt that if I was going to be picky on what I expect, he would get angry and I would get a bad note on my file that would alert other CSRs about me when I call in. Maybe that's what happened in your case.

I expected more friendly service than I got this time; maybe it was because I called at 11:30pm at night and the CSR is tired. Hopefully I don't get this kind of service again if I call at a different time in the day (not that I expect my TP to breakdown so soon again).

True story. I have central vac with a 30ft cord. I was cleaning the dust out of my T43 keyboard and the vacuum sucked 2 keys off the keyboard. I quickly disconnected the vaccum from the wall and frantically searched for my two keys. I found both with about 13ft of vacuum cord to spare. I reattached the keys and will never use my vacuum to clean the dust off the keyboard again.

From now on I will buy the canned air.
