    Hey all!

Loving the new T61p (props to Stallen on the clean install), but recently I've been getting a lot of headaches, spending too much time at it. Of course I should cut back, but I think it could also relate to eye strain, in which case increasing the refresh rate should help. I've heard it recommended that refresh should be set at least at 85Hz, but I can't increase the settings about 60 Hz, anyone know a way around this? Can the monitor really only refresh at 60 Hz?

    Thanks in advance,
    Darunium

LCDs refresh at lower rates than CRT's. 60hz is standard for LCD's.

huh, I assume there's no way to increase that without damaging the screen then?

Would lowering the brightness help a little? I geuss I just need to spend less time at the computer :-/

Calibrating your monitor might help. Are you also making sure you're using ClearType?

No problem at all. I had a friend who's vision got worse because he didn't use ClearType on his old Compaq notebook. I wish I had told him about that feature sooner. :(

Note also (if you're using Windows XP) to download and use the ClearType Tuner PowerToy, which will help you further tweak the readability.
