I am writing here to share with others my recent experience dealing with Lenovo on a warranty issue, this regards one of their All-in-one computers:
This is by the worst buying experience in ten years and thousands of dollars
worth of Lenovo products I have purchased either personally or through my
business. Part of the reason I purchased through the outlet this time was all
the assurances posted in numerous links on the outlet site that buying from
the outlet would get the same kind of warranty coverage that a computer
would receive if bought through the regular site, and had on site service.
I planned ahead with this purchase (an early christmas present for my elderly mother)
, bought it at the outlet site during the Veterans Day sale, so as to avoid
the holiday season rush, etc. The computer came in, worked for just under
7 days, it then locked up and would not boot, would not even post, just
sat there with only the fan running and power light on. I then spent hours
on the phone being transferred around and being asked to unplug the computer
and turn it on, over and over again, before being told the problem was likely
a dead motherboard and a service technician would be dispatched with the part.
Another week goes by as I patiently wait for the repair technician, I then get a
phone call where I am told the technical service department could not determine
which motherboard this computer had in it so could not send the part for
the on site service call. This was then escalated to the customer service desk,
and now they are offering to give me my money back and simply wash their hands of
the problem, with no regard to the hours of time I have spent configuring
this computer, then hours spent dealing with tech support, or the fact
that we are now in the middle of the christmas rush, and no comparable
computers are available at anything approaching the price I paid a month
ago. A quick check of the lenovo outlet site shows the a nearly identical
all in one is currently priced nearly a hundred dollars more I paid a month ago.
But because I bought from the outlet, customer service can't replace the dead
computer, even though there is a nearly identical one, because they can only
offer replacements from regular inventory stock, not from outlet stock, and this
model is on clearance so is only available from the outlet, hence the catch 22 of
buying a computer, having it die a week later, and no being able to get it fixed or
replaced, and the only solution being offered is a refund, to leave me back on
the market to buy again at the higher market prices.
So I ask is it too much to ask that a company that touts it warranty
coverage so much, to stand behind its clearly defective product and repair
or replace it in a timely manner. All I want here is a working computer, and
I am being forced to take a refund and tell my elderly mother that she has to
give her computer back and maybe I will be able to get another one when
supplies are back in stock after the first of the year.

Before we go any further: what machine exactly are we discussing here? Different platforms carry different warranty entitlements.

We are talking about a C460 sold with an on site warranty, part of the reason for buying it was the on site warranty knowing it was going to be installed at my elderly mother's house over some other options that were being sold with mail in depo only warranty.

OK...I'm not an expert on IdeaPad range, but I've never heard of a machine from the Outlet carrying an on-site warranty, and I've gone through quite a few of them. Did the listing state that a warranty upgrade was included?
I'm somewhat confused, and that's usually not the case when it comes to Lenovo's offerings of any kind... -
I just wanted to add a end to the story, to let you know the refund check on this computer that I was forced to return because a replacement motherboard was not available finally arrived Fed Ex 2 day air, adult signature required on December 23rd, which was 11 days after it arrived back at Lenovo, thankfully they did at least provide prepaid return shipping.
